Teleportation would be overpowered as all hell in most cases, and I could wear wizards robes and do the finger snap teleport thing ala Ganon from the Legend of Zelda cartoon.

Although if I were single lesbomancy would make it easier to find a date.

Well, I mean you get the open option to learn it. Cause wood would be an awesome element to have, and there's no real reason you couldnt get it if you had the DNA and somehow merged it. remember, we are talking magic, so we can have some fantasy.
Magic is srs bsns! The ability to control wood could make for some lulzy pool parties...

I would prefer some sort of conjuration/transfiguration (if we're going to be name dropping nerd references), so I guess Necromancy is the closest fit.

I have been designing a version of Necromancy for a story / webcomic I want to write so even though my version an yours are probably different I'll go with Necromancy.

Plus, Zombie army under my command = WIN

Elementalism, covers everything on there if you know where to look.
Lightning or fire for destruction.
Water, air, or natural things (A. By that I mean control of nature like druids or something and B. that is assuming that Elementalism includes the fifth element or just nature in general) for healing.
Teleportation (HOW IS THAT NOT A WORD SPELLCHECK?!!) wouldn't be included, but who needs that with the amount of speed available due to the wind magic part of it.
Actually it doesn't cover any of the others either, but I still stick to it.

What kind of version is that?
Please, sire, share your wisdom with us.

Elementalism. There are SO many things that fall under that school, and you become super versatile/badass if you can control all of them.

But the way you use Elementalism is limited.
You can't use wind in a manner that will allow you flight, it'd tear you to shreads.

depends on which systems you follow, but I think I'll just list the Warhammer lores.there's quite a list.
Lore of Death(not to be confused with necromancy):DOOM!!
Lore of Fire:self explanatory
Lore of Beasts:boost your own or a friendly units stats, prevent non-humanoid units from attacking
Lore of Light:to protect and heal
Lore of Metal:basically alchemy.improve your gear or make the enemys gear useless
Lore of Life:summon winds,or make the terrain itself strike out in anger!
Lore of the Heavens:thunderbolts,or unleash a comet on the battlefield
Lore of Shadow:speed around the battlefield,or scare the bejesus out of your foe
then there's the race-specific stuff.I won't go into detail.
Lore of the Old Ones (Lizardmen)
High Magic(High Elves)
Dark Magic(Dark Elves)
Lore of the Forest (Wood Elves)
Necromancy + Vampiric Magic
Lore of Chaos Undivided
Lore of Nurgle:disease and decay
Lore of Tzeentch:transformation and manipulation
Lore of Slaanesh:pleasure and desire
Lore of the Horned Rat(Skaven[rat-men])
Gastromancy(Ogre's Gut Magic)
Big Waaagh! and little Waaagh! (orcs and goblins)
and the Lore of Ice,practised only by the Tzarina Katarina of Kislev.

I'm pretty sure I got them all.more information can be found at www.games-workshop.com

Definitely telekinesis. It's useful for kicking ass, or for other utilitarian purposes. Easily the most versatile one here.

Damn, it would require a dozen polls to get this all down.

You forgot
Mind magic (telepathy, suggestion and persuasion)
Transformation magic (turn from A to B)

Trickery, according to the facts sphere (Portal 2) it is sorcery

Edit: I prefer Teleportation, forgot to add

ain't that the truth ^_^ the top 8 are the most commonly practised tho, spellcasters from almost every race can use at least one of those.

I want to be a shadow mage who uses the shadow to move quickly from one place to another, make it look like teleportation.

Illusion is also always a fun one.
