Uh, maybe you suck, but I sure as hell don't.
Keep me out of your weird self-hatred thing.

Anyway, if it's costing that much, why the hell are we keeping troops all over the place?

It's not like it's making anyone hate us less.
So withdraw all of our troops - if things get worse, maybe people will see that they were doing some good.
If things get better, people will continue to hate America, but at least we'll be in marginally less massive debt.
I'm so tired of self-deprecatig americans, we're one of the best countries in the world to live in and people think that just because we've gotten into a bad fiasco or two or a few stupid wars that we're the evil empire of the world. Every country has it's faults, some more than others.

OP:We do need to get rid of those bases, especially in the countries that aren't in any immediate danger.

Australia is undefendable, because it simply doesn't have a large enough population compared to it's land-mass or coastline.
Maybe you can do what the Russians did to Napoleon, retreat back into your country's vast wilderness. Should you ever be invaded you can retreat into the Outback, destroy all the wells/water pipes/etc. and they would have nothing to drink and eventually succumb to heat stroke. Just an idea.

I got a bit off topic. :p

Well, as a canadian, I'm pretty much fucked even if they didn't have any bases over here. In my opinion the US has way too much control over my country.

Although they do have us surrounded to with Alaska and all that.... :(
Yeah.... Your country. We'll go with that lie. It's most pleasent for you.

True... True... Outback survival skills would certainly make life difficult for invaders...
Of course, that might help the Army, but it wouldn't do much for the civilian population.
Just about all the major population centers are on the coast, and there's a very good reason for that. XD.

There aren't enough options. If there was one saying "9/11 was planned by America, and they should get the fuck out of The Middle East, and I am American. Also, America's populace sucks" I would check that in a second.
Does anyone mind if I bite on this one?

You have two choices, HassEsser, you can either PM me for the rest of this discussion, or go on to state exactly HOW the United States "planned" an attack on it's own country, in front of everyone. I'm not going to disrespect you, and I promise to take a real look at your arguments, and not flame you because I disagree, but I want to see your reasons. As you posted such a thing in this thread, I think it is fitting if we examine it.

I just can not believe how someone, after all this time, could still believe America killed over 3,000 of its own people to further some sort of political agenda.

Also, I think you are just kind of flaming America.

While I love America too, I, in no way supported Bush.
You should not make the two equivalent.

/You're probably just trolling the Europeans though

Max, you should be cynical enough to know that people will hate America no matter what Americans do.
People whine when troops are in their countries, then if troops get pulled out and their country goes to shit, they'll blame America for that too.

I agree with this.

I'm pretty patriotic, and I love my country and what we fight for (freedom), but we need to keep our noses out of other people's asses. Until it's neccessary, of course.

Not to put words in Chronobreaks' mouth, but there is a fair amount of evidence to support that 9/11 was an inside job of some kind. There isn't any evidence of who, organisation, or for what purpose. Just that hijackings couldn't have been caused as much damage as it seemed to.

May I suggest watching "Zeitgeist." Maintain your scrutiny as you watch it, though. The Zeitgeist Movement is their own organisation, with their own agenda. But they do raise some extremely good points and scary revelations.

First link: This is the webpage of Jeffery Rense, from wiki: Jeff Rense is an American conspiracy theorist and radio talk-show host of the Jeff Rense Program, broadcast on US satellite radio via Republic Broadcasting Network (RBN) and Internet radio.[1]

Renses's show has been noted as being among "conspiracy-oriented Internet radio shows that often feature anti-Semites and extremists" by the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit organisation that opposes anti-semitism.[5]

Have you ever heard of Popular Mechanics? They did a great, scientific peice about 9/11. http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/military_law/1227842.html

Second link: It says itself: "theories". I don't see how this is evidence of anything.

Third link: Lot of math and stuff in this one. Honestly, I understand how they came to their conclusion, but I'm not keen enough on math to go through all their numbers. What gets me, is the end: "So, once again, you have been lied to by the media, are you surprised?" I mean, really? It's just promoting an agenda.

Really? You want the states to give up US soil. Becuase all bases are techuncally part of the US.
Meaning you've invaded and stolen land from other people.
No, meaning we actually OWN the land. It's US property.

Not to mention the UN would do even less than it does now.

I've seen both of them, actually, and found them to be quite entertaining. But, when I watch them, I couldn't help but feel like the film makers were trying to spin a web around me, just like a Mike Moore movie. I consider myself to be an open-minded person, as well.

Watch gardening programs on the TV, or possibly episodes of Masterchef on BBC iPlayer (if you get that). It sure beats sitting in a hot desert being shot at all day by people who hate your guts.
Why do people always seem to forget that all US troops are volunteers?
