Here's a question for you, when you're at home, do you wear your shoes? Or do you leave them near the door? Do you find it strange that some people do the opposite of what you do?

Off because I have to do the vacuuming and I'm not coping with all your dirt!

I take them off, it's the norm here. It really depends on the culture, in some countries it's offensive to both keep them on and off.

Not always, but yeah mostly I remove them at home.
That said, it's very annoying if you go to someone's house and they ask you to remove 'em.

I take my shoes off upon entering my house or anyone's house. In Mid-West American culture, it's just what a person does immediately after entering a home.

I always take off my shoes upon entering my house or anyone's house. In my family and in my culture (suburban Mid-Western American),you're taught to take off your shoes right away upon entering a home.

If it's my house I go to my room and take them off there (provided they're not too dirty or wet). If it's someone else's house I tend to do what they ask.

both? i have hard wood floors, so wearing shoes isn't much of a problem. I'll take em off if my feet hurt, but i'll leave em on if i plan to just sit on the couch and watch the tele

Off. My rug gets dirty enough with all the parties at my house (I have a lot of college parties), so it is just easier if shoes are removed.

I live in a house that's been in the process of being renovated for the last six years. There is a bag of cement in my room. I don't think the dirt from my trainers would make much of a difference. I love my house :D

In my house, do what you want, s'long as they're pretty clean. I don't mind going socks in other's houses, though.

I live in the middle of nowhere, it's impossible to not track dirt and mud into the house, so you need to take off your shoes, otherwise it'll all go to hell.

Um, it depends? I conform to the desires of whose house it is. At my own, I take them off, but not the moment I come in the door. Like if I've got food, then I'll take it into the kitchen and put it away and it might be 30 mins plus before I remember to take my shoes off. If I've got not all that much, then I pretty much take them off straight away. Although if I was wearing heels then they usually come off the moment I get in the door, regardless of anything else.

I take them off, especially if I'm in another person's house. I just think it's kind of rude to track dirt inside someone's house.

I leave my on, unless the person requests me to take them off. I have unfinished hardwood floor, so splinters are can be a problem

I was actually thinking about making this thread soon, but I guess you beat me to it.

I always go straight to my room and take my shoes off unless I know I'm going to be doing something outside soon. It's not so much as cleanliness issue, so much as a comfort issue. When I'm out and about, they don't bother me, but when I'm relaxing, I take them off.

I take my shoes off when I enter a house mainly because I find them uncomfortable if I wear them for too long. Its probably due to the fact that I've been walking around the house without any socks on usually for about a year now.
