I find it very strange that someone would even consider wearing shoes indoors. I mean, at school or work I guess it's ok, but at someone's home? No, that just isn't something you do, at least not according to me and everyone I know.

On, unless it's the house rule. I always leave them on, because it's fucking cold otherwise.
Also, if I'm not wearing shoes after a shower before I go to bed, I can't sleep.

It's just too god damn cold.

I keep my shoes on, usually cause we have a lot of nails that stick up in my house and rip my socks. Also i get used to them on and the warmth, so i dont like to take them off or my feet get cold and i just get miserable.

EDIT: but if its someone else's house, and they have hteir shoes off, i take mine off.

Off. I have such culture shock when I go to the states and people insist I keep my shoes on. I cannot understand the reasoning that is behind wearing your shoes indoors. If you have indoor shoes (like Mr. Rodgers) that's a bit odd, but not as gross as trampling dirt all over your house.

ETA: I don't get the cold-feet excuse either. Wear socks, or slippers. It's 9/49 degrees here, and I'm chillin' like a villian in a cosy pair of socks.

I've always taken my shoes off inside a house.

Depends. If I know the person well and I know I'm going to stay a while, or if they have very nice floors and I have dirty shoes I'll take them off. But in my residence hall or otherwise I tend to keep them on, out of both comfort and habit.

I seriously can't imagine what goes on in those peoples' heads who don't take their shoes off in their homes.

Seems like they'd enjoy spending a night out on the streets. I mean, sorry, but I enjoy keeping the outside outside, and the inside inside.

That said, it's very annoying if you go to someone's house and they ask you to remove 'em.
With that said, it's very annoying if you go to someone's house, and they have to ask you to remove 'em.

I take mine off, because the carpet in our house is white, and shows the dirt really easily. Now I'm at uni though, I leave my shoes on all the time.

Who in their right of mind would NOT take off their shoes indoors?! it doesn't make sense, dirty is dirty. why would you make your or someone elses house more dirty?! are you people trying to promote uncleanliness?!

then again, I do have OCD...

I've never gone to a household where you keep them on.

It just doesn't seem right.

You're lucky if you can get shoes on me. Unless I'm going to work, shopping or some sort of event, I'm not even wearing socks.

Take 'em off so all of the shit and dirt from outside isn't walked about the house.

Sometimes off, sometimes on. It depends on how cold my feet are, or how long I'm actually going to be inside the house.

In merry ol' England I take mine off. Unless I'm just heading to the kitchen in front of me.

I take mine off.

If I didn't, there would be dirt and mud all over the floor.
No one wants that!

Sometimes I do leave them on, but it is more comfortable with no shoes on.
