Poll: shotgun or sniper which do you prefer?

Sniper rifles for me. I love the hunt, especially when they don't know I'm there. Picking a patrol off one person at a time is about as satisfying as it gets, in my opinion.
But if the level isn't sniper friendly, I'll try something else, usually an assault rifle or machine gun. I can't really use shotguns...

Shotgun. Most of the time, I can't aim for shit with a sniper anyway, so I'd rather have a gun I could actually hit SOMETHING with.

Of course, given other choices, I'd just grab an Assault Rifle, and be on my way.

Depends on the game.
In CoD4 I prefer to use LMGs, in most singleplayer shooters I usally go for sniper.
And i would defenatly go sniping in real life.

When a shotgun can hold 12 rounds, have all 12 rounds reloaded at once and have a fire rate faster than that of a pistol then no other weapon really matters.

I'm talking about my Borderlands shotgun btw.

I'm stealthy with a shotgun.

Sniper is cowardice - a really stealthy guy doesn't need a weapon.

Just as Yahtzee says - anyone can shoot up the place - a real spy doesn't need to kill.

Thanks to Borderlands, I can honestly say that I prefer to be in the thick of a firefight. I play with my brother and he does all the long range sniping while I get up close and personal with creatures. So while, I am drawing fire, he is finishing off enemies.

In every game with a knife, my favourite weapon is the knife. I'd just say sniper rifle though, in video games you can use the rifle in the same was you'd use a shotgun, with high efficency and no broken wrists.
