I generally prefer the shotgun, my only problem is that they take so damn long to reload.

Shotguns all the way. Why? Because of the AA-12.

Then again, I'd still go with shotguns without it, since I just love the brutality of sneaking up to an enemy and tearing him into shreds with the single pull of a trigger.

i hate the range extremes. i like ARs and SMGs. some people ruin the reputation of the sniper rifle.
I agree. I like a good, all-purpose weapon. I'm not a great sniper, in general, and I usually feel cheap if I run around throwing buckshot everywhere like a crazy man.

On a console shooter, I like the shotgun. I just can't adjust to aiming with the analog stick. On a PC shooter, I generally prefer the sniper. It kind of depends on the game though. For instance, I suck as a Sniper in TF2, but I love being a sniper in any Unreal Tournament game.

Pistols in any game where they are useable. Desert Eagles are freakin awesome, and my revolver in Borderlands is insta-kill goodness=]

Stealth. It's just so much more gratifying, even if I have a tough time pulling it off in most games.
Barring that, high explosives :p

I find revolvers to have the most class (crossbow is better) but I like shotguns. The cocking of it can give you an intimidation factor that a sniper couldn't. With a sniper you need skill, a shotgun, anyone can use it, it's highly effective.

Also there was a Civil War Revolver that had two different chamber levels, a shotgun like pellet chamber level and a regular bullet for the main chamber.

There is no sound more intimidating than working the bolt and ejecting an empty cartridge. Of course, anyone worth intimidating has died by then.

In shooters, like Cod and Halo, I'll use the assult rifles and SMGs mostly with the occasional sniper when I feel like it. In RPG shooters, like Fallout and Borderlands, I always go to shotguns just because they seem to have decent range and high damage.

A moderate caliber semi-auto rifle will give you sufficient range killing ability, while retaining the versatility to function in most close combat scenarios.

Snipers are too dependent on long lines of sight and little cover for opponents (or sufficient power to shoot THROUGH cover.)

Shotguns rely heavily on assault style combat and are vulnerable in the above mentioned conditions.

Shotgun.

Aiming is overrated.
The only time you wouldn't need to aim is at point blank with birdshot. And then it probably wouldn't be instantly lethal to a human (just look at the mishap Cheney had.)

No, combat-loaded 12-guage 00 buck only has 8 pellets per shell. You still need to aim. And then the spread'll make the gun pretty much useless past 25-30 yards.

I'll take a rifle over a shotgun, so long as the rifle had back iron sights along with the scope.
I think he means in videogames dude...

I prefer snipers. Mostly because I like having an excuse to scream "BOOM HEADSHOT" every 30 seconds.
