Short answer: No
Long Answer: No because I can't see VATS working and the fact that you can kill or save anyone doesn't work in a two player environment. If some one were to come and join my game when I'd already done a quest that involved doing something similar to blowing up Megaton but they hadn't, then what do they do? Your personal actions have too much of an effect on the wider world to incorporate two players. Unless, it is done in a similar way to Fable 2 multiplayer, I don't see it working.

Also, part of the joy is traversing the wasteland and having that feeling of being truely alone in a strange place until a death claw comes and rips your spine out and beats you to death with it. Although, I understand that New Vegas will be a lot less barren, I can only assume that there will be a large portion of wasteland.

If there's as much content as Fallout 3, it shouldn't need multiplayer.
How would vats work online anyway?

If they can pull it off, multiplayer (especially cooperative play) is not a bad thing per se. However, I really don't see how any game using Fallout 3's system could be successfully used in a multiplayer setting without some very significant changes. I'd rather see them spend time on making the singleplayer game more awesome than on trying to get multiplayer to work properly.

Any game in the oblivion engine would benefit from Co-op.

Always thought what it'd be like to have Obliv mp, but cant imagine (new skool) fallout mp working somehow espec with (new skool) VATS.
HOWEVER, old skool VATS mp would be more interesting and strategic with a given scenario leik FO Tactics.

SPEND MORE TIMES ON SP THEN ON A TRIVIAL MPS = COOLIOS GAMESIOS (i.e. BS1 and not comparing to BS2 which was fine)

Well Co-op would be great fun on that new Hardcore mode but I don't see anything multiplayer-ish happening in Fallout.

after fallout 2, since the license was bought back, it all went to hell... so i don't really care what they do now... what i do hope so is that they don't do stupid things with the wasteland universe.

btw Deus Ex 3 will soon put a trailer !!!

Has anybody heard of Borderlands? Its single or multiplayer depending on which you want to do. So yes fallout new vegas should have multiplayer but also be able to switch to single player when you want to explore by yourself. And VATS... i dont even know what to say, so many people are complaining, oh what about VATS? who cares. i peronally think that VATS sucks but to satisfy everybodys need for VATS make it work only for single player and not multiplayer or else there will most likely be problems when trying to put VATS in multiplayer.

i really hate it when they add multiplayer to single player games. Story mode should be the game. Yet most gamers rely on the multiplayer to make the game good. Like mw2

Fallout 3, without VATS*, with side-by-side multiplayer would have been the best game ever, so I think multiplayer in this would be cool.

*Single-player VATS is fine. It wouldn't work for multiplayer though.

It shouldn't be a main part of the game like COD or Halo. Maybe like Deamon Souls. The players are there but you can't interact with them.

Given the choice I would not want a multiplayer but rather them focus on an even greater single player campaign.

No, god no, I don't want Fallout multiplayer. I'd rather have a stonking great singleplayer experience than another multiplayer game.

Fallout never had multiplayer. Well other than that shameful tactics games and off shoots.

There is no place for it. Goes all the way back to Fallout 1 when one of the devs said "Why would you want to play the game just to be jumped by some cheater with a hacked out character."

And I agree.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Nooooooooooooooo. The Fallout universe is supposed to be apocalyptic, barren, and sparse. In Fallout 3, you only run across a hundred or so people in total, and you cover a hundred square miles. Having a Fallout MMO would be downright retarded, given that it's not a game setting you can put a lot of players in.

Then again, Star Wars: Galaxies was set in a period where there weren't supposed to be any Jedi, yet half of the players were Jedi. I'm hoping Bethesda isn't as stupid or money-hungry as LucasArts.

-balance
-levels
-programming
-servers
-mods
-server maintainence
-patching multiplayer

All things that will take away from the Fallout experience and story if the developers have to spend time creating multiplayer content.

Fallout was always about having a long, winding story, and I don't want it turned into a half assed short game because the devs are more interested in dealing with 13 year olds screeching about "LOL HAX"
