OT: Yes. Yes I think they should, because I believe in being inclusive and nice; not in being exclusive, elitist, insecure and irrational.

10/10 thread, would lol again. Can't wait for OPs next offering, should be a doozy. Shame he/she/it will probably not last long here what with the attitude on display.

Given the recent and ridiculous hysteria over Cross Ange, I'm growing fairly certain that we'd be better off without the yellow journalism used to create hysteria that fuels the modern feminist movement.

If SJW's are complaining about Anime being sexist and want to change it... isn't that cultural appropriation and western imperialism impinging on an art form?

Man that must be a real doozy for them to figure out.

No it isn't. Not at all. I mean Jesus, pull it back a bit. Complaining is complaining, pure and simple.

Also one of the most famous and well received anime directors of all time? Hayao Miyazaki? He's a feminist. So yeah. Japan isn't so alien from us that it can't understand the concept of feminism if he could become one.

I wish the internet could move pass treating criticism like it's some form of oppression. Just about everyone uses it.

Well that was meant to be a jokey throw away comment...

So if trying to inject western (specifically American as is usually the case in these subjects) morality into a traditionally Japanese media form isn't cultural appropriation what is? I'm quite sure you're right Japan does understand the concept of feminism and right now if you read about it is applying it, but that doesn't mean American style ultra-aggressive feminism is how they go about it. (I'll note here, if ultra-aggressive feminism is what works for some countries, others it will just alienate people, there are many ways to approach a subject and you have to take in to account the audience you are working with).

So with that in mind, perhaps you'd care to explain to me: How is injecting US cultural politics into a foreign countries (that is having it's own culture politics reform I might add) traditional media not cultural appropriation?
