OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD.
There is a Crackdown 2?!
My friend only bought that game for a Halo 3 Beta or whatever and I actally REALLY liked that game for the few hours it took to beat it.
Oh MAN.
Littlebigplanet is not my thing, Heavy rain isn't my thing, but really...What does Ps3 have going for it besides God of War and Infamous? Killzone2 is mediocre, and Resistance is pretty fun, but. Are there any other real GEMS on the Ps3?
If by GEMS you mean relatively non-experimental straightforward action games you could check out both Uncharted games and Ratchet ans Clank.

To be honest, personally the true GEM of the PS3 for me is Demon's Souls and MGS4, but I guess they might not be your cup of tea.

I take it you weren't talking about Playstation Move, which is on it's own a little Gem....

Buying a 360 was just "more of the same" when I went from PC gaming to console gaming.

Buying a PS3 opened a whole new avenue of gaming exploration. Plus, you owe it to yourself to play Valkyria Chronicles.

Edit: as for exclusives, the PS3 has quite a few. The aforementioned Valkyria Chronicles, Alone in the Dark: Inferno, Killzone 2 (which I love to bits), the Resistance series, God of War, WipEout HD, Heavy Rain, Infamous... and let's not forget the impending The Last Guardian.

Well, I never really licked Uncharted 1, But everyone has been RAVING about Uncharted 2, so if I get the Ps3, i'll definitely give it a try. And Demon's Souls I've heard is pretty amazing as well, but definitely very difficult.

And you stop it.
Playstation Move will not be talked of here.
The Wii shit needs to go.

Although the gladiator game on Move does look pretty sweet. <<;

I would prefer the ps3 but you sound like you would like the 360 more.

I have both and like the PS3 better. If your not a major Halo fan the PS3 has better exclusives and more power. But, you can't go wrong with either.

I have both, and I've had them for a few years, and I honestly have to say (hold up flame shield) I've generally preferred my PS3. Functionality, free online features, and some very, very good exclusives. Don't get me wrong, I've loved some of the Xbox 360 exclusives, especially Mass Effect (though that is also on PC, and my PC could handle it, so I wouldn't be missing out much if I didn't have a 360).

I also found Xbox Live to be a frustrating experience, due to the adolescent nature of the players, so I cancelled my subscription. PS3 also feels like it has a lot more evolving to do, I mean it's the only console with Blu-Ray support, and you can tell this is made fantastic use of with exclusive titles (such as MGS4, God of War 3 and Uncharted 2).

Also, I don't know whether this will clinch it, but I'm also a big PC player too. RPG's and FPS games, just like you.
You have some great points. I do know that the Xbox does share some of its major titles with the PC, and i've played Mass Effect and a few other Xbox ports like Gears of War 1 (Which was a fucking TERRIBLE port). I just really do enjoy the 360 a lot, and a few of my friends had them when I lived in the states and they were great for the LAN parties.

The only reason i'd get the PS3 is for some of the games, and I guess for the Bluray. I LOVE God of War, and Infamous is an amazing game.

It's just really hard to choose being a PC gamer and knowing i'd get some of the Xbox games for PC, and then not be able to touch the Ps3 exclusives at all. :/
Well I think you've answered your own query there. There are games which you'll more than likely get on PC that come out on Xbox 360, whereas there are PS3 exclusives that you'll never see on another platform (God of War 3 being one of them).

A lot of people on here are saying Blu-Ray doesn't matter, but it really does, it's the next big format, and it's growing to new heights. Exclusive titles really make good use of Blu-Ray (God of War 3 took up 38GB, and MGS4 filled up the disc!), and it's good to have something to play Blu-Ray movies (if you don't have a player, and even if you do, you get BD-Live access easy enough with PS3). People say PS3 lack exclusives, but they couldn't be farther from the truth. As a matter of fact, if you look at how many Xbox "exclusives" are out there you'll notice the majority are out on PC too.

P.S. I am not a PlayStation fanboy, as I said, I own and like both, but I can see a lot more legroom in PS3's future.

Ah. There is the other problem.

The RRoD's.
How many of you who have owned Xbox's got a Red Ring of Death?
And if not, how long have you had yours..?

And for comparison, how many people have had PS3's that have died?
I think i've ever only heard from a couple of people that their Ps3's completely died on them, but it seems to be kind of a common occurrence among 360 owners?

with the 360 having some problem like rrod they have great support. it happened to my console and i got a new one in the mail 5 DAYS later. if your ps3 has ANY problems (that arent warranty covered)(few are) you will be up shit creek without a paddle.

needless to say i own both a 360 and a ps3 and my xbox is my baby more "blockbuster" games. Most really really good games that come out on the ps3 are usally on the xbox aswell ;) just helping you in the decision.

As someone who has grown up on Snes and moved to ps1 and has bought all the ps's while maintaining a healthy relationship with PC id go with Ps3 since it can do most of the console only games prettier and at a higher fps with less crashing. Uncharted 2 is worth it along with Infamous and if you can get your head around FF13 its one of the better ones next to 7 and 8. I have had a 360 which lasted 6 months before becoming a usb charging tool. as opposed to ps3 which i've had for 3 YEARS!! but if its a controller issue if you like the 360 controller go out and one that'll work on pc but if the controller isn't a problem then you can emulate the ps3 controller as a 360 to play MOST 360 compatible games using DS3 tool. and besides with with todays tech one can emulate a 360 on their computer.

P.S. The voice of Dr. Breen dieing is so disheartening.

P.P.S. i have the ps3 that emulates ps2 its 80 gig and i seems to have the least complainants since i could never get my head around how the latest ps3 and the one before that.

Xbox 360, as I personally believe it has better exclusives. If you buy a couple of games a year, ps3 are sometimes more expensive, although you don't have to pay for live. The xbox's live is much better, from organization to fps. That's just my opinion though and I'm a fan boy.

I guess it all boils down to what you like.
Xbox is vastly more well known for its FPS games and it's "superior" online capabilities.
It also has a better RPG catalog.
PS3 is good as an essentially universal media player but yet again you don't need that due to your seemingly beefy PC.
But the perks of the PS3, are good too. Like free online gaming (people rant about how XBL is so much better, but hey I have no complaints with the PSN especially since its free.)
PS3 also has a good catalog of really good exclusives and 3rd person action or action rpgs.

Infamous and Uncharted, to me are more than enough reason to buy the system.
I think you should find out which games mean most to you, and base your purchase off of that. Overall both systems are good and have their ups and downs. And thankfully, they're seeming to finally get over their R.R.O.D's and their Y.L.O.D's.
Good luck with your purchase and enjoy!

I have had one RROD.

Friend #1 has had one RROD.

Friend #2 has had one RROD.

Friend #3 has had his PS3 break 4 times.

I'd say the PS3, mostly because of the free online playing ordeal, and because many of the "exclusives" for Xbox also get their way to PC (thanks Windows :p), so if you get a PS3 you have a smaller chance of "missing out" on the exclusives.

just my opinion though

If you can afford it, get the ps3, there are just more advantages to it than the 360.

Firstly ps3 is free online and apart from cross game chat ps3 has identical features and actually tops out at a higher download rate than the 360.

You also get bluray where ps3 is one of the best available, home, vidzone, life with playastation, and a browser which im using now by the way, and its future safe as it still has unutilised disk and processing space left in its 8 processers, wheras the 360 is going to stay exactly where it is now and just use more disks, also ps3 has a much more miniscule chance of kaspoding on you.

PS3 exclusives also score higher in ratings averagly too.

Although i only have a ps3 (can you tell) and a wii, it also comes down to what your friends are playing, what exclusives you want more, if you would use all the features and how long you want it for, which we cant tell you,

but if you get a ps3, add me "Anti_J-Man" and ill gameshare you some stuff off the store for free.
