I'm thinking of buying Amnesia through the Steam Halloween sale. Vey simple, should I buy it; yes or no?
Feel free to add reasons why.

It depends, do you enjoy weeping in a corner, curled into the fetal position? Because that's what this game does to you, and it does it bloody well.

If you've watched too many freakout videos, you may know all the scary moments before you get to them. I know that I've personally ruined the game for my mates by making my own scary moments mashup series and sticking it on youtube.

However, I'd still say get it. Its brilliantly made, still creeps me out even when I've already done it (The Choir, for fucks sake) and its on sale.

Go for it.

If you like horror, or simply want to see one of the best examples of pacing and atmosphere in any game ever, then yes, absolutely. By the way, play it in the dark, sound up. You will hate yourself for doing this, but it's worth it.

That game is probably the best horror game ever and I highly recommend it.

Yes.
Yes you should.
What are you still doing reading this, go to steam and buy the game.
Is he gone? Good, I hate him!

Buy it!

Honestly: no. The game is cheap enough on Steam right now so I'd buy it just for collector's sake. I bought the game last December, and for some reason, i just can't get into it. It's not fun for me, at all.

It's a game that you'll either love or hate. Either way, it's incredibly atmospheric, and if you do like it suggests you do when you start (lights out, headphones on, audio cranked) you're definitely setting yourself up for a potentially glorious experience of anxiety and suspense.

Thing is, considering how dirt cheap it is, does it matter? Buy it just because it's a highly recommended game for plentiful good reasons, but more importantly buy it because it's a good game that won't set you back $60 if we're all lying to you and you don't like it.

Ditto. I enjoyed it until the arrival of real gameplay. But maybe I just didn't 'get' how you're supposed to play it.

Well I don't know, do you have an heart issue? If so, no.

Nha but more seriously, yes it´s a good horror game which isn't like most modern horror game where fighting is a big part of the game...

If you've ever enjoyed a scary game before then Yes, you should absolutely get Amnesia - I liken it to the first Resident Evil because when you first play that game your so ill equipped for the scares and theirs no other game like it, so you don't have a context to relate to which makes it all the more terrifying.

Amnesia is the scariest thing I've ever played in my life, not because it's gory or over the top but because it slowly creeps into your contentiousness until your completely immersed in a dark place with nothing but a lantern.

The genius of the gameplay is that you need your lantern to not go insane in the dark, but every time the lantern is on your attracting unwanted attention.

I didn't find the game that scary, I got kinda bored before anything happened. I know, I know, it's not the horror of today's F3AR and crap, but even I was wondering when the hell anything was going to happen.
(plus I don't have a mouse for my laptop, so it's uncomfortable to play anything other than Scrabble)

Yes, especially if you enjoy Survival Horror Games (the scariest game I think I've ever played). That and the fact that it's $4 on steam.

Definitely. It's really easy to diffuse the horror aspect if you put effort into it, because its a horror game that lets your imagination run wild.

But hear me now, your heart rate will at some point in the game be higher than the times you've masturbated in your lifetime. It gets pretty scary...

Absolutely a must buy for fans of Gothic Horror. The atmosphere is itself enough to scare me. I'm ill equipped to handle matters when there's actually something legitimately scary going on. When the game first came out, I could only play 30 minutes at a time; the tension became physically unbearable, and I had to stop (sometimes) because it was a little painful. Like clenching your fist a long time.

It sounds like the sale is super affordable. Give it a go. It's a great game , and you've got little to risk... except for your sanity. ;)
