I'm getting it for XBox, as I have a spare console etc - I don't want to take up the TV, or my PC, so it'll be running on a spare 32'' screen.
I played F:NV on my PC, and would find myself stopping to check email, stopping because my PC crashed, stopping because my PC started making a weird noise, stopping because my screen went all brown... Really I don't want to tarnish the gameplay experience with the PC's issues. I like the idea of playing it and still being able to work on the PC, otherwise I can't see me being very productive come November :D.

Definately PC. I remember playing oblivion for the first time and thought it was pretty good. After awhile I got bored and started playing other games but came back to it after finding heaps of mods for it. Suffice to say, I was blown away. The HD makeovers, living worlds and random chance encounters, plus just walking into fights already under way was something I never experienced in vanilla Oblivion. New weapons, armour, textures for each single book, quests plus the ability to just open gates to Oblivion whenever I liked. The mod community is always thinking up new ideas and they are mostly always driven by thier passion, not a budget. Plus I've never downloaded, or seen, a community mod that had a price tag.

Pretty much evert Bethesda game in recent memory has been nigh unplayable without mods.

My PC specs are:

861 GB free
My monitor's not too small
I'm using an AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor(2 CPUS, 3.1-GHZ
For Graphics I have an ATI Radeon HD 5450 (2806 total memory)

I probably posted that wrong...I'm not too great with computers

PC.
there is no advantage an Xbox has over the PC at all any more.

TVs accept Computer connections, the Xbox controller can attach to the PC, PCs have much much better graphics and processing power then the Xbox, and the PC version will support modability (unless bethesda has changed the way they do buisness.)

Also, about the modding... I can't remember where, but I heard something about console mod support. If thats true. Either way theres a chance of mods.
Almost true. Bethesda WANT to bring mods to consoles, but currently have no real way of doing so. I recall they were talking to Microsoft and Sony on how to solve this, but mind that they have to find solutions that work for both systems.

I get it for Xbox - no need to upgrade or anything, and I can talk to friends whilst playing it.
I'm confused, are you suggesting that you can't talk to people while playing games on the PC?

Get it for the PC. The reason is very simple: mods. The single biggest ace-in-the-hole of PC gaming over console gaming. Plus you get better graphics, a superior control system, and a whole heap of other benefits.

My friend played Oblivion on the Xbox, while I had it on the PC. Now I do have a pretty good PC, quad core processors and an ati HD 5850 with 8 GB of ram, but even taking that into account the Xbox loading times were incredibly long. Like more than twice as long. You should really edit your PC specs into the equation. I would also recommend upgrading your PC if it isn't up to snuff. It's not as expensive as you'd think, and I can help you if you'd like.

Not to mention you won't get stuff like this on xbox . . . not easily anyway.

If your PC can handle it, PC for sure. Bethesda games are usually good, but what makes them special is the mod support. Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 wouldn't be half as good without mod support.
That said, does any one know if there is any way to install mods on an x-box? It seems like you would be able to if you installed a proper os.

Aye.
Found the article.

From the looks of it..
It defiantly won't be a launch thing.
If console mod support ever happens, it will come later on.

If you just want this game for the mods...
PC... Mods from launch, or at least sooner than Console if ever.

I wasn't aware you could transfer Oblivion mods to the 360? Not to mention I don't really see the point in doing all that extra work if you need a PC to get the mods in the first place.
yeah, i got a crappy computer... thats just me... meeep...

As I said, "not easily". PC modding community is way larger than xbox. You need a PC to create the mods anyway, so anyone with enough skill to mod something likely has a decent PC and will do it for that first.

I am getting it for Xbox because my shitty PC can't run it. However, I will be hooking my 360 up to my moniter so I can actually read shit.

Your machine will definitely run Skyrim fine... and the idea that it would look and play better on an Xbox is ludicrous. You have the hardware, definitely get it on the PC... everything about it will be better, graphics, gameplay, mod support, everything.

If you got a PC that can run it(or willing to upgrade/buy a new one) then no question about it, buy it for the PC.

I'm going for Xbox too, but only because I don't think my computer could run it well. :( From all the speculation that people who, unlike me, actually know something about computers have been throwing around about specs, I'd rather avoid disappointment.
This , and the fact that i don't care about modding , i Actually liked vanilla oblivion , and played the hell out of it . There were flaws but let the game without flaw cast the first stone. Just thinking of the number if games i payed full price for and didn't run on my pc turns me off of pc gaming in general , BUT if you are sure to be able to run skyrim on you pc without problem , i would say go for the pc version . I prefer consol gaming because games are 100% sure to work , no stress
