I'm an Xbox gamer getting it on Xbox. You have the option. Get it on PC. I've played Oblivion EXTENSIVELY on both platforms and I preferred it much more on PC to Xbox - That being said I have a friend who says that Skyrim has been made with consoles in mind rather than PC, as was the case with Oblivion.
Will still run better on the PC. When they "with consoles in mind" all they mean is "You can control it with a gamepad". There is no mystical mojo they can do to make it look as good on an Xbox as it will on a contemporary PC. (Note: not the 7 year old piece of shit your mom bought off the back of the truck to run Microsoft Office 2003)

If you have the option, always get a game on the PC. It will be better so long as you're not running 7 year old junk hardware. Always. Even with medium settings on most modern games, you'll still be getting 60FPS while the Xbox will be getting 30FPS and with lower res textures.
Yeah what I meant was that the HUD, Menus and controls have probably optimised for a console rather than PC.

EDIT: Also not ALWAYS true MOSTLY, but not always. Third Person Cover Shooters, like Gears of War and Sports games like NBA and FIFA play MUCH better on a console than on PC...

PC most definitely due to mods.

I'm planning for a big upgrade in september for the new highly anticipated games that are coming out and Skyrim is one of them.

If you have a PC that can handle it, then of course PC. There's basically nothing the 360 version has over it other than the fact that you can play it from your couch (And you can do that on your PC with some effort anyway).
This. Oh and mods on the PC when they start getting made.

PS3!

But no, PC, why even ask?

Unfortunately my PC doesn't even have a dedicated graphics card so it's not an option.

PC has more variety because of mods. The visuals will look more impressive if your computer can handle higher specs. But if you want something rigidly set in stone, go with Xbox. The PC version will probably have Xbox controller support built in.

As about 80% of the people who answered this post, get it for the PC. PC got the fantastic oppertunity to download mods to your games... for free. A great example of the epicness of mods is some of the storylines are actually better than the original story itself, and some of them are up to 14 hours of extra gameplay

PC will have mods consone might have mods. The PC will look better no question about it although whether you can run it better is another story as we need your full specs eg RAM etc. Also for god sake anything a console can do a PC can do so gameplay won;t be better on consoles as you can use a controller on PC if it is that big of a deal.

It all depends on which system you feel more comfortable using. I could get it for my computer, it could run it, but I just feel better using a controller and talking to friends, so I will get it for the 360.

It's been developed specifically for the xbox so you won't lose anything from the stock game, but you will miss out on all the content made by the modding community.

Modding a Bethesda game is easy, and can add years of game play.

pc 2 xbox mods... your argument is invalid...
I wasn't aware you could transfer Oblivion mods to the 360? Not to mention I don't really see the point in doing all that extra work if you need a PC to get the mods in the first place.
yeah, i got a crappy computer... thats just me... meeep...

During development Bethesda did mention looking for an avenue to port the mods to Consoles, but neither Sony or Microsoft came up with a way for them to do it. And, making mods can be done on a machine that can't even play Morrowind, I should know. You do have to copy the main game file onto the machine doing the modding but after that it's no more intensive than excel, unless your going to be making your own meshes and textures in Blender or Maya (then you'll need something beefy). When I'm modding I usually have a couple computers on, one to test the mod and one with the mod open so I can make changes and and fixes while I play it (just restart game for changes to take effect).

If you have yourself a PC that can run the game and possibly future mods - I'd go for the PC just for the amazing modding community that Oblivion had.

I get it for Xbox - no need to upgrade or anything, and I can talk to friends whilst playing it.
you can do that aswell on PC... and .. WHY EVERYONE should take the PC version... the modding community :)
Yeah, but all my friends are on Xbox so I can go into party function and tell them spoilers...

Its all about personal choice, for me Ive never liked having to play anything that is too fast paced with a mouse or keyboard, I like the feel of the controller, the immersion I get is of greater value then better graphics.

However I now that mods are better civ5 is 20 times better because it always has something new. More content is an unarguable benefit.

But then you have screen issues, a 19 inch high quality image is going to have less benefit then a mediocre 30 inch one.

If your only going to get one copy consider the factors that make you enjoy games the most. At the end of the day you just want the best experience you can, if you get that from having an x box and the more no thrills but more simplicity approach then go with that, if its the modding community then PC is your man.

But never limit your options, one day give the other a go, youll never now until you try.

Oh 1 last thing, most people will say its the stuff on paper that counts but its not, it all personal.

I am getting it for Xbox because it's my preferred way of gaming. If I wanted it for PC I still wouldn't because it would blow up my terribad PC.

I'd say PC if you can handle it because of mods and if you want a controller you can buy a wired USB Xbox 360 controller. Graphics aren't better on console either, watchu smokin'?

As much as I love my Xbox there is no contest, the PC version is better.
