My PC specs are:

861 GB free
My monitor's not too small
I'm using an AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor(2 CPUS, 3.1-GHZ
For Graphics I have an ATI Radeon HD 5450 (2806 total memory)
Oh then you're more than fine. Your graphics card is only one level lower than mine (level being from 100-200). You're processor is pretty good too, but the main thing is the graphics card. I fully endorse the PC version.

One other argument, it's a lot easier to navigate the menus, and remap keys. I switched the jump and cast buttons, personally.

Oh, and if you're really in love with the xbox controller, you can get an xbox controller to work with PC games.

Hell, you could almost get it on both.
Skyrim's going to be that amazing it might actually be worth doing that.

That's what I'm planning to do, like the two other Elder Scroll games I got (Morrowind and Oblivion) : first on console when it is released, then on PC when I get to upgrade it. Those games definitely are collectibles for me.

pc 2 xbox mods... your argument is invalid...
I wasn't aware you could transfer Oblivion mods to the 360? Not to mention I don't really see the point in doing all that extra work if you need a PC to get the mods in the first place.
yeah, i got a crappy computer... thats just me... meeep...
Don't really understand this anymore. A gaming computer better than an Xbox 360 or a PlayStation 3 is just about as economical now as a console and you can use it for things like school work, web surfing, porn uh... youtube.

Hell, the only thing I use my 360 for these days is as an extra Media Center device so I can stream my recorded tv shows and dvd library from my media server to the other room over the wifi...

I'm just curious and could use a little help deciding whether or not I should get Skyrim for my PC or the xbox. Each has certain benefits, and certain downfalls. I mean I like the idea of being able to mod and such on a PC, but I feel the graphics and gameplay would be better on the xbox, and I don't want to be stuck in a computer chair staring at a smaller screen for a longer period of time, it's nice to just relax on a bed, and play on a big screen television. So are the mods and other benefits the PC has worth it over the xbox? Or should I just get Skyrim for the 360?

EDIT: Here are my specs, or some of them I guess, not too good with computers, if I'm missing anything important let me know

My PC specs are:

861 GB free
My monitor's not too small
I'm using an AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor(2 CPUS, 3.1-GHZ

well from the looks of it your graphics card is not that good, (im confused by the 2806 total memory unless your talking about your RAM, because I would not think that kind of graphics card would have that much memory). everything else seems great. Just get a 5770 in there and you should be able to play it at full graphics no problem. 5770s can run from 150$ (best buy which over prices every thing) to 80$ if you buy from new egg

BTW if you paid over 30-50$ in the past 4 years for that graphics card you got ripped off.

I would also recommend at least 4 gigs of ddr3 ram for running at full. (if your computer is capable of running ddr3) if your slots are all not filled and you are not capable of ddr3, then I would get some 1gig sticks to fill the slots up to make your computer faster (ddr2 is quite cheap now adays, you can get 4 1 gigs (or actually 1 gig sticks are about the same as two gig) for 20-60$

PC is always the better choice for a Bethesda game -if- you have a computer that can handle it. Mods turn a hundred hour game into a thousand (or more) hour game.

I'm an Xbox gamer getting it on Xbox. You have the option. Get it on PC. I've played Oblivion EXTENSIVELY on both platforms and I preferred it much more on PC to Xbox - That being said I have a friend who says that Skyrim has been made with consoles in mind rather than PC, as was the case with Oblivion.

Will still run better on the PC. When they "with consoles in mind" all they mean is "You can control it with a gamepad". There is no mystical mojo they can do to make it look as good on an Xbox as it will on a contemporary PC. (Note: not the 7 year old piece of shit your mom bought off the back of the truck to run Microsoft Office 2003)

If you have the option, always get a game on the PC. It will be better so long as you're not running 7 year old junk hardware. Always. Even with medium settings on most modern games, you'll still be getting 60FPS while the Xbox will be getting 30FPS and with lower res textures.

I'm getting it for XBox, as I have a spare console etc - I don't want to take up the TV, or my PC, so it'll be running on a spare 32'' screen.
I played F:NV on my PC, and would find myself stopping to check email, stopping because my PC crashed, stopping because my PC started making a weird noise, stopping because my screen went all brown... Really I don't want to tarnish the gameplay experience with the PC's issues. I like the idea of playing it and still being able to work on the PC, otherwise I can't see me being very productive come November :D.
Trust me, if you got NV for the console, you would've been dealing with constant crashing and other weird bugs. That game was just a mess.

It's is actually the reason I would recommend the PC. Besides all the entertaining mods. Users are quicker than Bethesda at patching the PC version and I think that with their new engine, there's going to be a lot of patching done to that game... otherwise, I'd be buying it day one.

I'm not sure. The 5450 is a really low end card. It's pretty much a HTPC type of card, not a gaming card. Resolution would have to go all the way down to 768 and all settings on low, and even then I am not sure. In fact, the ATI card in the XBox is better for gaming than the 5450 (similar to a X1950).

Hmmmm... you make a good point - I did much prefer Oblivion once I got the mods installed, and felt the 360 version was left a bit flat in comparison. Maybe I should give my PC a good clean out and see if it can cope. Cheers.

Despite everyone saying for the mods, go with either one you prefer the controls for. This game should definitely be good without the mods.

I think your PC could handle Skyrim, but if you want to be safe about it at the expense of mods, I would go with the Xbox. Don't go for PC just cause I think your PC could handle it.

Not sure about this, but I think I heard somewhere about xbox getting mod suport for Skyrim? I think i heard that somewhere.

Oh wow, you're right. I didn't expect the minimum requirements to be so high:

http://www.systemrequirements.in/system-requirements-for-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim.html

Assuming those are right, that is. The ATI 3870 is the equivalent of the 8800GT, though, so he does meet minimums and would still be better off as far as RAM and processing power go. Then again, if 2.8GB is his RAM total, he would be a little short there...rough.
I wouldn't risk it. That 5450 is a lower end card than most people here think. Just to do some generational comparisons, the GPU in a XBox is similar in performance to a 4650. A 4650 is much better than a 5450. It simply is not a gaming GPU.
