Can we move on from Halo now that it is "over"? I doubt it will happen though as Microsoft has its eyes set on the Halo core audience.

I personally want a movie not another game, Halo Reach will last me a life time until people stop playing online, but I'm sure by then people will have something even more awesome to play.
I cannot really see a Halo movie working very well, at least not one focused on the main series, though I suppose it could be used to sort of expand upon everything in the Halo universe overall.
If whoever made those live action trailers, was the director of the movie, it would be pretty epic, all you need is a big battle at the end and it will sell like Hot Cakes.

I liked halo, it was good and fun and original. But even i have to say, bungie did a good job with the halo series and it ended well. Sure it was a mysterious ending that let you decide for yourself what really happened, but it wasnt one of those "oh lets kill off our protagonist" situations.

Its over now and bungie have other things upcoming. Im hoping for a new marathon game personally.

i love how everyone goes on about halo saying itsa blatant cash in and all that, but i have just 1 thing to say to that.

call of duty

yeah theres fucking 7 of the bastarding things seriously this is a cash in halo by comparison is not. also halo games at least have a story that makes sense if you follow it (looking at you mw2).

Nah.

The game series is awesome in most ways (including the storytelling IMO) but that's all due to Bungie. If 343 industries takes over they will butcher it.

Halo has been laid to rest peacefully. Let it lie.

You can make absolutely any story sound bad if you do that to it. Examples:

Half-life:

OH MY GOD A SCIENCE EXPERIMENT WENT WRONG. OMG EARTH IS BEING INVADED BY ALIENS AND ZOMBIEZ AND YOU'RE PART OF A RESISTANCE MOVEMENT! HOW UTTERLY ORIGINAL, ABSOLUTELY NONE OF THIS HAS EVER BEEN DONE BEFORE EVAR! (Though I do actually think HL's story is nothing special.)

Mass Effect:

HEY LOOK, A PLANET IS UNDER ATTACK BY EVIL ROBOTS. YOU MUST FIGHT THE EVIL ROBOTS, THEN DREAM ABOUT SOMETHING HORRIBLE, THEN GO BE EITHER A JERK OR A WUSS AS YOU KEEP FIGHTING THE EVIL ROBOTS! ONOZ THE GALAXY IS GOING TO BE KILLED UNLESS WE DO SOMETHING.

Lord of the Rings (not a game but that's not the point):

OMG HALP, A PLOT DEVICE! SHAPED LIKE A RING! TEH EVUL LAWD WANTZ IT! QUICK, GO THROUGH THE WILD AND THE DUNGEONS AND FIGHT SOME BAD GUYS AND GO THROUGH TEH EVIL LANDS AND YOU WIN BRAVO!

I actually like Halo's story and storytelling. But if you have a complaint against it, going capslock and reducing it to its barest essentials is cheap.

no, i think bungie did an EXCELLENT job wrapping up the series by returning to the beginning. its almost, poetic. any further extensions will start to look a lot like george lucas.

I was thinking that a game where you're not a soldier gunning down the Covvies would be good.

Like a pilot, flying the frigates that kick alien space-arse.

If anymore games are made it would just be milking the last drops of cash out of the franchise in my opinion.

Should it go on? Well, I've never been disappointed in a franchise. Actually, that is a bit of a lie. I didn't care for Halo 2 but by the time Halo 3 came out I was invested enough that I wanted to see the end of the story. I didn't really care about ODST or Reach but friends did and they were Co-Op so I picked them up had enjoyed my time with them. Thus, I would say that I don't mind if they continue. I'll play them as long as I'm entertained by them, though judging by my experience with Reach, I'll reach that point sooner rather than later.

Of course, my personal preference has nothing to do with it. Reach ensured it will go on for at least one more game.

I just think no Halo produced without Bungie could ever live up to Bungie's epic standards. Any more Halo would just push the franchise downhill

Yeah, I get your drift buddy. But I was just using that caps lock thing as a comical device to convey the amount of depth within the story.

Now, it is a very well told story, for sure. But is it really a good story? Good in this sense is purely relative, so I'll leave that up to you.

But a new game done properly could rectify all that, lets say the Halo creators get some kick ass writers and are able to make a brilliant story in some section of the universe.
What aspect would you have them do? Something new that hasnt been done before would be brilliant.

But as said before, if its done properly.
Hmmmm... Well, I loved the Elites. Why not have a game based around them and their warrior code? The thousands of wars they must have fought against the aliens upon all the worlds they have searched for a sign of the Forerunners?
Why not a game where you can customise your Elites armour and weaponry, like a hack and slasher or a third-person view? It could focus on close combat, coz lets face it, the Plasma Sword is the coolest weapon in Halo. You could choose from a wide variety of melee weapons like Energy Pikes and custom blades, hammers, and why not a Plasma Bow or something? As well as hand shields, special armour and Forerunner tech reverse-engineered. You could explore and conquer dozens of planets within systems, get beamed down to a possible piece of Forerunner tech and fight your way through the planet's inhabitants, forced to swallow the orders of the Prophets, no matter the cost.

Come on, wouldn't something like that be kinda cool?
