TF2 isn't even done with content yet, it seems kind of pointless. And if Valve is still using Source, its also kinda pointless, unless they just made new mechanics with slightly different graphics. Which wouldn't be TF likely after the nice image Valve has gotten the game.

So basically, no until they get a new engine. That entire expansion vs new game idea applies here.

What in the world could they do to change up Team Fortress 2, or make it better in a sequel? TF2 is fun, but when it came out, it was also radically different from Team Fortress Classic. I really haven't got a clue what Valve could do in a sequel.

i think they should add even more weapons for each class... like .. oh i dont know maybe the ludika? and an bat that is stronger but slower for the scout? or a flametrower that has a longer afterburn effect? or even a speedupgrade for the heavy? or a other medigun that uses ammo but heals faster? 0_o phew i didnt think i would get so many ideas (and most for heavy!)
ooh last one a healthboost for the scout! instead of the BONK so you will have 200 hp for a short period or time... something like that

this actually brings up a good point... I don't remember a TF1...???

Then again, I've NEVER been a fan of Valves, so perhaps I just missed it in between playing rounds of Battlefield and The Sims.
Wow, kids these days. Team Fortress was a Quake mod that basically invented the team-based online FPS. It was remade as Team Fortress Classic, which was a free Half Life mod.

Nope, TF2 is good and people are still buying it
While TF2 is still going strong, I think that they should really throw us console users a bone and give us some freakin DLC already.
True but really they are a pc based compnay, even though many would pay for new maps

TF2 is already radically different from the vanilla Orange Box version. I like this idea of keeping a multiplayer game alive and evolving. Why make a TF3? Just keep updating TF2.

Team Fortress Classic. TF1 was a Quake mod that came out in 1996. TFC came out 1999 and was a remake by Valve of TF1.

I see it nearly impossible for Valve to out-perform TF2, at least in the graphic/style area. Personally, I don't think we will se a new Team Fortress for at least 5 years. They will probably launch new games of all their franchises after they supposedly develop a new game engine, like for Half-Life 3.

Not yet, maybe when they've made a better engine and have made Half-Life 3, but first they should come up with HL2:ep3 (or some HL2 spinoff)...

I dunno....

I mean, there's not really a lot else you can do with it, other than slight graphical upgrades. Maybe a new class or two. But other than that, that's why we have updates!

I don't see why they should.
For games like TF2 a new game isn't needed untill the changes you want can't be put into what exsists, and since that is a long way off from being an issue it doesn't make much sense to me.

Becides, it would be very bad PR after that whole L4D2 thing.

I think that eventually valve may decide to make a sequel, but when/if they do, they would truly have to put a lot of work into how they could make the game in regards to style, new ways to use the classes etc, as this was done nearly perfrectly (at least in my opinion) in team fortress 2

This.

It's still way too early, TF2 is still popular and on no level obsolete. Better if they keep supporting it with updates like they are now, even if they take their sweet time with them, just like with everything.

I still think its still far, far too early to been thinking of a possible TF3, but I'm in favor if they did decide to make it, my only concern is that if it's going to be multi-format, I hope they would try to get the updates on for more than just ONE format as TF2 has done presently.
