I thought it was running on the same engine as Rage. If it is, I wouldn't worry about stability -- system requirements, maybe, but not stability.

I've got over a hundred hours in Oblivion and FO3 no bugs at all. I don't know what your smoking.

Whether or not the game is stable is the make or break for me. The last 3 game Bethesda has been involved in that I've had have been horribly buggy and crashed almost ever hour or 2. I won't deal with a 4th. I won't preorder it and I'm going to wait to read as many reviews as I can find(both professional and user).

I play games for fun and to unwind not to RAGE!!1! at having to hard reset my PS3 or lose save data.

edit: to the guys who say they didn't have any issues what were you playing your games on?

I was under the impression that they had created an entirely new engine. There was some questioning of that due to one staff member saying otherwise, but I thought that was resolved and it was decided that it was entirely new.

Either way, a Bethesda game is going to be full of glitches. Even if they, through some miracle, manage to keep the quests from becoming incompletable, with a game world that big, there are bound to be numerous mistakes.

well all of the bethesda games i have played have been perfectly stable for me just the ai does stupid crap like the brother hood of steel knight turned up when i didnt blow up megaton and stole my unique plasma rifle i had to find and kill him with ocams razor
or there have been minor bugs and there have been too many over the years to list even a stand out one
I thought Ocam's razor was an Oblivion weapon... Or was it Mehrune's razor? I don't know, damn you DLC-less PS3 version.

If they're using ID software new rage engine (which they should freaking be since they own them now) then it should be peachy. Doom 3 was fine I don't see why Bethesta can't go by their example.

I didn't really have any problems with bugs in Oblivion, and the bugs I had in Fallout 3 were minimal.

Anyone who is familiar with the works of Bethesda should know by know just how unstable their products have been. Considering that each new game is built upon the reconditioned engine of the previous title, it wouldn't be too far of a stretch to think that Skyrim will be as bad (maybe worse) in the terms of stability.

Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas all built off slightly altered versions of the same engine. Since Skyrim is using a further modification of the Gamebryo engine, its a safe bet it will have it's fair share of problems come launch day.
Your poll doesn't have an option for game breaking bugs at all. That's what I want to vote for I never had any real problems with any of the Bethesda games, not even New Vegas

Mehrune's razor is an oblivion weapon, Ocam's razor is the thought that the simplest explaination is probably true

Assuming it lives up to my expectacions it can set my house on fire after an hour of play and I would still probably recommend it to everyone.

Morrowind, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 never crashed on me so TBQH I have a hard time understanding why people complain so much about bugginess in Bethesda's games. I just kind of hope that the AI will have improved.

I've played Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, I've never had any serious problems with bugs. I expect nothing less from Skyrim.

Very rarely would I get a bug and if I did I didn't notice it in Bethesda's gamebryo games. Worse thing I can thing of happening is the F03 save corruption issues but I save every 5 minutes so I don't care.

Hah, I laughed at the last option :D

OT: Not sure, no doubt I'll hear from the people I know that are foaming at the mouth at the prospect of owning this game.

They rebuilt the whole engine for skyrim, from scratch. they have said this multiple times. Also, I never noticed any probs with oblivion or morrowind.

I never actually had a whole lot of problems with Bethesda up to Fallout 3. Guess I just got absurdly lucky.

Yeah, for a PC-centric developer they sure like screwing PC players over, don't they?
Yeah damn them for giving us mod tools and letting us go apeshit with their games and making whatever the hell we want!!

I read somewhere that Bethesda was using a new engine for Skyrim... Either way I do expect it to be a little buggy on launch, but no worse than most games these days.
