I fail to see how that's a bad thing.
I don't care for it myself, but as long as nobody blows smoke in my face it doesn't matter if they smoke, to me.

Agreed. But sadly, people do smoke in my face, so I hate it.

Anyway, if someone were to intentionally blow smoke directly in my face just to be an asshole, I would treat them like I treat any asshole who is not myself.
Which is to say, I'd wait until they turned around and I'd garrote them.
Then I would storm a castle and impale them upon a battle standard.

...Or I'd just hit them in the face, I guess. That seems like a lot less work. And it'd be funny to watch them choke on their cigarrete.

I dunno how it is in other countrys, but in sweden, people who smoke are assholes that thinks that people dont mind getting tar and diseases becuse they need to have a cigarette in the most crowded places.

And yes, hitting them in the face is easiest.

It's basically easiest to assume that everyone, regardless of future-lung-cancer-possibility, is an asshole.
Nine times out of ten you will be right.
Actually, that's not true.
More like 99.9% of the time.

The truth about smoking is that it improves chance of cancer, as does anything else. The single most cause of cancer is electrical radiation. Cereals, electricity, red bull. They all cause cancer. You just need to weigh the consequences with the benefits.

Never smoked, and never was tempted... I'm allergic to the stuff, which doesn't exactly endear cigarettes to me.

No I don't, but my mum's a chain smoker which means I inevitably stink of smoke too.

You might want to start and wash your clothes then.
Or not stand right in the face of your mum when she smokes.

You don't have to be anywhere near a chain smoker in order to have your clothes completely saturated with the smell of cigarette smoke, you just have to be indoors with him/her. And the smell lasts, too, though smokers naturally can't detect that because they have that scent saturating their noses already.

My Grandfather was a heavy smoker when my Mom was growing up, until he was told by his doctor that he'd die of emphysema before Mom graduated from high school unless he quit. So he quit cold turkey right that day. Two very grumpy weeks later, he made the remarkable discovery that mashed potatoes actually have flavour... which, he told me, let him know how much he'd been missing all those years.

Just a thought.

I?ve smoked for 7 years, spent the last four wishing I hadn?t started. I?m down to 2 a day now, just hope that this time when I quit, it?s for good (I have had 5 failed attempts to quit). I am using acupuncture this time which is funny because I have a fear of needles.
Odd as it may sound I prefer to date non-smokers. Weird huh?

I smoke and I enjoy smoking. I probably smoke an average of 5-8 cigarettes a day, more if it's the weekends and I'm enjoying heavy gaming or drinking.
I started when I was about 14 or 15, not because all the "cool kids" did it (I was actually offered cigarettes several times but refused), but one day I was staying the night at a friends house I was sitting at his computer and decided to light up one of his cigarettes. I thoroughly enjoyed that first smoke and promptly bought a 10-pack a couple of days later.

There's nothing worse than an inconsiderate smoker, though. I don't like it when people smoke around me when I'm eating for example, or inside a car and such. There's a place and time for cigarettes and it's not in cramped spaces or at dinner.

I've considered stopping, not really for my own benefit, but for my girlfriends as she's been diagnosed with asthma. Of course, it would help a lot if SHE was prepared to quit, but she keeps putting it off... Oh well, c'est la vie sur le pont. Life: It'll kill you

Electrical radiation? You do know that something like that doesn't exist? I guess you mean electromagnetic radiation, wich does exist, but the American Cancer Society isn't so certain as you seem to be:

So I wonder where you got the idea that electromagnetic fields are the biggest cause of cancer.
About your first statement, yes you're right they technically increase the chance you get cancer. But ofcourse reality isn't so simple, and smoking has much more health effects then 'just' several types of cancer (going down the easy route, wikipedia, sorry ):

The main health risks in tobacco pertain to diseases of the cardiovascular system, in particular myocardial infarction (heart attack), cardiovascular disease, diseases of the respiratory tract such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma,[53] emphysema, and cancer, particularly lung cancer and cancers of the larynx and tongue.

My grandma who smokes doesn't have cancer, but smoking IS severly deteriorating her health, everyone here knows including my grandma and her docter but she simply refuses to stop. Makes me so mad, and sad.

Well my dad has just been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to his kidney's and stomach, from excessive smoking and drinking, so I don't think I will ever smoke...

Im sorry to hear that my freinds dad also passed away recently from lung cancer
