I tried smoking a cigarette once before when I was young and ignorant, but my common sense kicked in and said "Inhaling smoke = DUMB IDEA." the end.

I didn't realise why people smoked at all up until my adult life
they're expensive
they just kill you
and they're unsociable

but i suddenly understood why recently
they're expensive
they just kill you
and they're unsociable

smoking is cool
however we might not like it
it just is.
Sure you might disagree, but the general consensus from me and the people i've met is that it kind of actually is

so i'm an occassionaller
i don't smoke all the time because i dont want to get addicted and god knows i can't afford it
but if i'm offered one, yeah i'll take it

- If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?
Dont care for it obviously, but as long as they arnt directly streaming it into my face i dont care.

- What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
I think its stupid to ever start in the first place, but its your choice, do as you will.

- What do you think of smokers?
They...umm..smoke? Idk, no generalizations.

- Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
No. Let people do as they will....

- Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?
No. N/A

- What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
Ukmm, try to find something else to distract you I suppose. Games, exercise, good book maybe.

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
I smoke and I smoke L&M brand cigarettes

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
I started smoking because of shit at home. My dad's an alcoholic. I was 1 and couldn't take the fights and the constant stress of living in a house with an alcoholic. Since I was to embarrassed to talk about it with anyone I tried a cigarette because alot of people told me it mellows you out. I never wanted to try druggs because that would be same as drinking for me. I don't know if this makes sence to anyone but thats my reason. Might not be the best reason to start I know.

How much do you smoke? Cigarettes per day (packs per day if relevant)
Depends. At least 5 per day. Some days more. Some days alot more (30+)

If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
Yes. The cigarette is great. If you feel down or stressed in any way. Light one up and it's almost always gone.

Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
Every day

Do you regret smoking?
Yes. ALOT

Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
Yes

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
No. They allways have none smokers tell you about it. You can't explain how it feels unless you have tried it. And they allways say that one pull is getting you addicted for life. That's bullshit. Maybe after smoking half a year you are addicted but no sooner then that. You just wake up one morning without smokes and it is the first morning that that thought bothers you. Thats when you are addicted.
And the feeling is undescribe-able. Also the feeling of quitting is like running a marathon in the desert and then someone tells you you can't have a drink of water. It kinda feels the same. And I've quit for 2 months. It got better but after two months I still thought of cigarettes all day long.
Basicly I want to quit and every time I start again it's for some bullshit reason. Smoking is bad and expensive. But they should really stop bashing on it. Because being overweight is also bad. Driving fast is bad. Drinking beer every weekend is bad for you. Everything is bad for you and if you think drinking or driving isn't bad for the people around you then screw you. The anti-smoking campaigns are just witch hunts so people don't have to think about the bad habits they themselves have.

Never tried anything and hopefully never will. If other people smoke that's their business and many of my friends smoke, as does my father. The smoke (second hand smoking), I couldn't care less about it and I don't think there's any real danger to it (I've read studies which support both sides of this argument). I can't give any tips for quitting exept that if you smoke 1 pack of cigarettes every day, take the amount of money one pack costs and multiply that with 360 (here in Finland that's about 1800). That means you put between 1500 euros and 2000 euros a year on tobacco, for me who never smoked that would be a pretty tempting offer to quit for.

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
Yes, Marlboro Lights or Cutter's Choice tobacco if I'm running low on funds.

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
*Insert bullshitty reason about stress here to make myself feel better*, those reasons are normally lies. My friends and I started at 14 or so, out of curiosity, it became a social thing and now I smoke regularly.

How much do you smoke? Cigarettes per day (packs per day if relevant):
I don't tend to count, it depends on the day, I don't have a set number. Maybe 10 or so, cigarettes that is, not packs.

If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
Yes, I wouldn't do it otherwise. Nothing beats a cigarette with morning coffee.

Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
Daily, see above.

Do you regret smoking?
Yes and no.

Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
I'm not a huge fan of the word addiction, I think it takes personal responsibility out of the equation. It's like people who over-eat, if you really want to stop, you can stop, it just takes a lot of willpower.

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
Not particularly, it was the same as education on of the other substances, "If you do this you will instantly die a horrible and painful death and no one will be your friend".

It's nobodies business but the person who's smoking, it's legal, if you don't like it you should leave the area.

I hate it when people act offended when others smoke in their presence. If someone sparked a joint in front of them and you were getting a contact high I would say, hey thats not cool because under law that is not allowed, but in the society we live in being able to smoke is protected as it is a personal freedom. Instead of taking them away we should be adding them.

I know smoking is bad for me, but I enjoy it, much the same as how I know a big burger is bad for me, but I make these grown up decisions all by myself and prefer the ability to choose to indulge over criminalisation.
All drugs should be legal, they would be regulated to make them pure, with age limits we can offer severe penalties for anyone selling outside of legal vendors so that children find it difficult to obtain drugs, which compared to today when there are so many dealers that kids can pick up with ease. Just seems kinda of immature that people believe they can't make these decisions for themselves

I don't smoke, have never smoked, and never intend to smoke.
The next few are, as such, inapplicable.

- I do indeed hate cigarette smoke, because I'm asthmatic, and every time I walk past a cigarette smoking person in the street, no matter how long I hold my breath for, I catch a whiff of it, have a mild coughing fit, and then get a dirty look from said smoker, who clearly thinks I'm exaggerating the effect to try and guilt trip them, or somesuch nonsense.
- I do think it's their right to choose, although I don't like it.
- I think that they are somewhat misguided.
- I think that there should be perhaps more segregation of smokers and non-smokers, to an extent. (I hope I'm using that word correctly)
The next two are inapplicable.

There's my two pence on the issue, anyhow.

Do you smoke? What do you prefer to smoke?
Yes, 5 Vegas or Drew Estate cigars, I'm a maduro and oscuro man.

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
Getting my favorite vodka I thought why not and got a Drew Estate coffee flavored cigar, went good.

How much do you smoke? Cigarettes per day (packs per day if relevant)
a 5 inch cigar a month.

If you do smoke, do you enjoy it?
With a proper drink and a finely crafted cigar I am content for a nice evening.

Do you smoke regularly? Or just occasionally?
once a month so you tell me.

Do you regret smoking?
Nope

Do you think you are addicted to smoking?
Nope.avi

Was your school education on smoking accurate to the real thing, in your opinion?
Yes actually, beginning of High School everyone had health, hell even history teachers threw in about it, biology, and I also had chemistry. Learned alot about tobacco and the illicit substances, from the history of them right down to the pharmacology.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?
Tobacco I dont care, illicit I treat you the same as drunk and hippies, with projectiles.

What do you think of smokers?
Dont care but then again hippies are shoot on sight.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?
Theres already government controls and a very decent repertoire of education about it in my little area of the world.

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?
If you're addicted think about your family and your health.

I know if my health ever dips smoking, drinking, and cholesterol will be out the window. But the hippy bashing will stay, I love that.

Both my parents smoked like chimneys and for the longest time I thought my mother died because of it. My father smoked indoors and sometimes I'd come down the stairs to find the dinning room hazy with smoke, making me squint.

Safe to say, I've never smoked. The only one of my siblings who did went to school in Ireland, and she quit when she got pregnant and - except for one stressful point in her life - never took it up again.

If other's want to smoke, go ahead. Just try to be considerate; try to make sure the rest of us aren't downwind from you when you do. And I suggest not smoking indoors even in your own home; it's pure hell getting that smell out of the walls, not to mention scraping the layer of nicotine off. We had a hell of a time cleaning both times Dad moved before he died.

This is what happens if you smoke
Nah that's not true, And I've never smoked. I can understand why someone would smoke, but I am too much of a cheapass to buy smokes, and being near the smoke makes my lungs explode out of my eathole.
---------
If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke? I do not mind when they are 10 meters away, but when I have to walk past them, I do
What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose? It's not my money/lung

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?

I don't really mind others smoking, I grew up in a family where most people smoke and it's unpleasant, but negligible, as far as other people go bitching so much about it, yeah its kinda gross and doesnt smell that great, but as far as the amount of second hand smoke you need to do any significant lasting damage is more than most of these smoke haters will ever be exposed to, to put it like this, I'm 20, lived with smokers my whole life, and I have bout the same health risks as the average person

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?

It is a poor decision, but each individuals decision none the less

What do you think of smokers?

Mostly sympathy and pity, its an addiction and it sucks and I wish there were more programs out there designed to help smokers quit

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?

As stated previously, prohibition doesn't work

Have you previously been a smoker, and quit? How was quitting?

Nope

What's some advice you would give to a smoker for quitting?

Seek help, call a quit line, take a pill or use a patch, kicking an addiction is incredibly difficult so when you do decide to seriously quit, do it the right way, and good for you, in bout 7-10 years youll be an average human again with a similar life span :D

smoker's generally annoy me (if i can see them)... if i can't see them, whatever, they're supporting the economy in their own way so yay for them

i personally smoke 2-3 times a year... a cigar at the end of each semester, and maybe a pipe on my birthday... screw cigarettes though

consequently i'm not a smoker, i feel no compulsion to smoke (beyond a psychologically programed obligation on the above occasions), i feel no addiction or longing, so i wouldn't classify myself as a smoker by a long shot...

the smell? normally i hate it... i can't stand the smell/taste even when i'm smoking the two cigars/one pipe... i always spend the next half an hour scrubbing the taste out of my mouth (it was always just for the tactile sensations, etc). other people's smoke generally annoys me, i used to be asthmatic but i don't react that way any more (hence my own occasional smoke) but on the very, very rare occasion i'll get a (slight) whiff (anything too strong puts me off) and essentially become nostalgic... "hey, i remember you..." and move on

Why do you smoke/why did you start?
I've never smoked tobacco

Have you ever tried, or are you considering trying at some point?
Not really, my father has regretted it his whole life and i'm not stupid enough to not learn from someone right in front of me

If you don't smoke, do you mind others smoking, or do you hate cigarette smoke?

If I may get a little personal for a moment, the smell of smoke turns me on tbh. This is because of my last girl-friend whole smoked quite a bit.

What is you opinion on other people smoking? Is it their right to choose?

Yeah, I have no problem with them having the right to choose, more annoyed by the double standards with this arguement when it comes to other substances. eg: the ever looming arguement that tobacco is legal but pot isn't. etc

What do you think of smokers?
I don't really have an opinion on smokers and don't really consider people who smoke deserving on an entire noun devoted to them.

Do you think smoking should be banned, or sales of tobacco banned, or some sort of legal enforcement to halt smoking?

At the current time, then yes. As far as things go the idea of "do what you want(to your body) cause a pirate is free[footnote] YOU ARE A PIRATE![/footnote]" isn't existant in western society so I'd prefer all or nothing. Basically if they are going to ban some things claiming it dangerous for the body I really wish they'd not skip tobacco just cause its quite profitable.
