i said on here that there was no chance this would happen, so naturally i was surprised when it was announced rage had won it. i'm mainly surprised over 500,000 people could be arsed enough to actually go through with it.
still, now they've managed it, i don't think i'm that happy about it. i'm obviously glad we don't have to listen to as much x-factor bullshit (not that i ever voluntarily listen to the radio or watch music channels) as usual around xmas time, but the whole irony of everyone following orders to vote RATM is hilarious. i mean, it's just people trying to be subversive and clever, which makes me want to disassociate myself with them.
also, if people think this is just gonna free up proper music they are entirely wrong, because it will take another one of these massive campaigns to oust the next pile of shite that will look like hitting number 1.
i don't even like most xmas music (and i especially hate as it's coming up to xmas and we have to listen to the same 6 songs on a loop - which actually happened in a bar i was in last night) and only around xmas time is any of it even bearable, but if an xmas no.1 is not an xmas song, then it shouldn't even be in the charts.
EDIT: i think it would've have been a better campaign to just complain, or spam simon cowell or something - i clearly don't know how to go about doing it - but basically say on mass "fuck you simon cowell" without giving him shit-loads of money.
