Yeah, I care. I loved DA:O when I first got it. Couldn't put it down. Then school happened and I forgot about it. I'll have to pick it up again, finish it, play DA2 and then wait for DA3.

But DA:O is pretty awesome so far. So even after know that DA2 is probably not as good as the first one, I still wanna play it. And DA3. I know. Weird, huh?

I care about Origins. I'm at the point, for the first time ever, with Bioware where I'm not going to buy the game on release and wait for community response.

screw dragon age. They monstrously screwed up dragon age 2 with homogenized replay dungeons and Final fantasy over the top fighting instead of sticking with the great game-play mechanics from DA1...
Dude, the fighting in DAII was at least exciting. In DA:O it looked like the characters were LARP fighting, and if I wanted to witness a damn LARP fight, I would've just gone somewhere where a LARP was taking place.
Totally agree. I felt that the combat of DA:O held it back horribly. I like your reference to LARPing, because my character didn't look like he was swinging to kill. Like with LARPing, hurting people is in bad form, lol LARP videos are hilarious, "Ouch, TOO hard!"

Though I like my go to reference, it looks like my character is swinging his sword through air that is made of molasses or tar.

Basically, DA2 gave me what I wanted to begin with, and what DA:O should have had to begin with, full control of the battle. DA:O battles determined by how fast your special powers recharged, because the auto basic attack, no matter what weapon I used or upgrades, wasn't powerful enough to deal with enemies alone. DA2 brought special attacks back to what they are suppose to be, support.

I'm actually kind of hoping Dragon Age III goes the way of Mass Effect III, only even more dumbed down and insulting, just to taste the sweet Berserker Tears of all the fans.
Well the so called "core" fan base that unholy worship DA:O, will of course not be please. That is obviously seen from the comments bashing DA2 combat system and voiced protagonist, things that have been confirmed to be staying in DA3.

For me, I hope they also keep the same leveling/ability gaining system from DA2. DA2's leveling/ability gaining system was much more rewarding than DA:O. In DA2, each level I gained felt like it mattered and made me stronger, getting a new upgrade every level was better. Unlike DA:O, which arbitrarily threw me a bone whenever it randomly felt like it.

I also hope that the party characters are like and along the lines of the DA2 characters in personalities and depth. The depth of DA:O's characters was like a two inch stick stuck in a half-inch hole; plus there wasn't much variety, seeing as a vast majority of them were written to be closed of dicks that you had convince to open up through the power of friendship, or well, bribery.

Basically, I hope DA3 is set up exactly like DA2, except with more of and a larger variety of dungeons. Since the amount of dungeons was the only problem I found with DA2.

Yep because wave after wave of enemies for every fight is soooo exciting.

best way to get through the game? fight the first wave then turn on godmode and do something actually interesting for the next ten minutes while the characters duke it out on their own.
I'm pretty sure by exciting, he meant that in DA2 players can actually control all of their character's attacks, not just special attacks like in DA:O.

I would say the LARP was a reference to how the basic attacks in DA:O had one speed, slow, and it didn't look like the player character was out to harm the enemy he was swinging at. Heck, one of the running jokes I had with my friends during the only 25 hours I was able to play of it(because the game was so dull, cliche, and broken), was that my character wasn't trying to hurt the darkspawn with his sword, he was just playfully tapping them on the shoulder, "Hey, hey, you wouldn't happen to have directions to the end of this game would you?"

I liked Dragon Age: Origins. I liked Dragon Age 2 (I'm also aware of it's many flaws). Despite not liking the ending to Mass Effect 3, I'm not and never have been angry at BioWare over it.

I actually cannot think of a single time I've written off an entire dev company because of my opinion on a game to the point where I won't even consider future releases from them. To do so seems a) silly and b) like far too much negative investment. If/when DA3 get's announced I will take note and if it looks like something I'll enjoy, I will buy it.

That being said, eh... It's not something I'm anxiously waiting for (I wasn't for DA2 either until near launch) and I don't expect it to rock my socks off.

Certainly, I care.

I've enjoyed DA:Origins, DA: Awakening, and DA2. The re-used environments in 2 pissed me off a fair bit, but excellent combat kinda makes up for it in other ways.

As for 3, I'll probably be happy so long as they don't re-use environments.

so your blaming the characters for looking amateurish in fighting or the combat style? Because if I can remember dragon age the fighting was just like baldurs gate and all bio-wares previous rpg's a fast paced series of movements where you got to use the spacebar to line up your spells ect.

Cmon if were playing compare Da 1 to Da2, at least Dragon age 1 was slightly more realistic that the super swishy sword that looked like a move from tekken and restricted to only playing a human

Neah...DA:O wasn't all that interesting and DA2 was...DA2. Instead of focusing on some of the more interesting or at least somewhat unique aspects of the world they made, they focused on the old mage/templar thing and didn't even do that right.

Considering that DA3 is rumoured to happen in Orlais, I don't see much change. And the combat/gameplay sort of sucked in both games.

Let's say you're asking, "Are you still hoping DA3 will be good?". Yeah, I'm hoping that they bring back the Morgan is pregnant story, and incorporate the grown child leading a faction that acts as a neutral party between the unabashedly evil faction and the faction that opposes both the Avatar-Child of Morgan, and whatever evil plagues Ferelden, or if they take us somewhere else.

I had better formulated thoughts about this shortly after finishing DA:O but this is the first time I've thought about it again. I think it'd be interesting. Maybe the reincarnation of the Old God (was it an Old God, I can't remember exactly what they called it) wants to bring salvation to more of her/his sisters/brothers, like he/she was cleansed. Maybe the evil is another Archdemon, it'd be the easiest choice, but a some storyboarding could make it more interesting. The obvious third faction would be the province or the continent's rulers, in opposition of the evil, and political conflict over how to deal with the reborn Old God, that you can sway, or mostly ignore and allow to unravel, while helping either of the other factions.

So yeah, I'm still into hoping Dragon Age gets a good third act.
On setting, it is pretty obvious that it will be set in Orlais, because the business with the Chantry is definitely not finished, and that is where the Chantry originates from.

Also:
Liliana makes her appearance as an agent of the Divine, and the Divine is based in Orlais. Plus Orlais is where Bodahn said he would be going with Sandal, and we can't very well have a DA game without the awesome that is Sandal, "Enchantment!" Lastly, the last DA2 DLC was set in Orlais.

So, we should expect to be hearing many many more French accents in DA3.

Not even slightly. After the morass that was DA2, I decided I'd never buy anything EA again.

Sure. Haven't heard much about the upcoming one though. I'm not exactly hyped up out of my brains for it, but I'll be interested in trying it when it comes out, that's for sure, especially as BioWare has officially recognized the problems that the second game had.

Same here really. It just occured to me that DA2 was the last EA game I bought.

I posted only very recently about me going back and trying Dragon Age: Origins again, and I must say - it is $*#@ing awesome.

I quite liked DA2 for different reasons and I am definitely looking forward to DA3.

Nope not at all, I found the first one really boring and didn't get all that far through before I lost interest entirely. I haven't played the second and I doubt that I will play it or any future sequels.

I had a great time playing DA:O and DA2, though DA2 felt a bit too hacky-slashy for my tastes. I understood the need to speed up the combat and make it more exciting, but it came at the expense of realism and the careful, tactical planning that made the first game such a joy. I could do without the "Good choice, funny choice, aggressive choice" oversimplification, but it worked for what they intended. I'm really excited to see where they're going with DA3.

The expansion for Dragon Age: Origins wasn't especially good and DA2 was just bad, so I completely lost interest in this franchise.
If they release another DA game I'll probably watch some playthroughs of it and maybe buy it when it is on a sale.

I'm curious.

Because personally, I don't. Between DA2's not small list of problems (the non-ending, dumbing down the combat, retconning player choices, the plot holes) and the fact that everyone's suspicions about choice not mattering have basically been confirmed by ME3- I struggle to care about what's otherwise a pretty bog standard RPG. And by consequence I axed my save games a while ago.

Thoughts? Opinions? Redundant whining about how my whining is redundant?
It really depends. After the disappointments that was ME3 and DA2 my faith in Bioware has taken a hard blow.

They know how to make good games, they just really havent lately. If they manage to build a story like DA:O instead of the drivel that was DA2...I'll be interested. But I will not pre-order, and I will try before I buy.
