I drink espresso for t3h flavorz.
Seriously. Caffeine never had precisely the effect on me that it should. At a young age and an even younger size* we were going over an inventory of symptoms to determine if I had ADHD. One odd test toward the end was to give me half a No-Doze. At my size, that was an adult dose easily.
Now bear in mind that I did not begin to enjoy either coffee or tea at that point in my life. My favorite drink was water, and my favorite soda was uncaffeinated. The expected result was roughly as follows: if I was neurotypical, I should hype up, possibly try to be everywhere at once. If I was ADHD, I should have been knocked out. (This latter happens to my wife when she drinks half a Mt. Dew.)
It did neither. No discernible effect. This is not to say that it passes through my system without doing anything; addicted now, I cannot go a day without a Mt. Dew without a serious headache. Nevertheless, it neither awakens me, nor does it put me to sleep.
I discovered espresso approximately 7 years ago, I think. I still enjoy coffee, but I've a special fondness for a decent espresso. I usually settle for rather crapful espresso, actually.
I also enjoy teas, either harsh or delicate.
* I was roughly 1/2 to 2/3rds the mass of other children my age for a large percentage of my childhood. Freak!
