Poll: So FF7...?

Final Fantasy 7. Apparantly it is one of the best games that has come out in over 15 or more years, and marked Sqaure's reputation as quality game developers, leading to numerous best-selling games with even more expected for many years. But, I never found its appeal, it never hooked me like VIII or IX, hell even X got more play time from me.

I guess I just never got it really, and have never bothered to understand it. So discuss what makes this game great in your opinion, because I really don't get it!

I liked 4 the best but in all fairness I've only played that and 2 and 3.

No FF7 is not the best, FF6 is and if you say otherwise you are wrong As much as I love FF7, it owes a lot of it's greatness to FF6 which is my favorite of the numbered game. A ton of gameplay and story elements from 7 are heavily derived from 6 so FF6 should be respected a little more than it already is.

Although 7 is still a great game by it's own merits, and it' one of those stories I won't forget so easily.

seriously, ANOTHER FFVII thread? very well, i ejoyed it immensly, great storlyline and o loved the matieria system (knights of the round + quad + mime anyone? ) the only annoying thing for me was barret.

FF7 gets waaaaaaaay to much credit(See post above me). I think its a good game but not nearly the best. FFVI is 100x better. Kefka FTW!

Well FF7 was my first ever real RPG and it made me fall in love with the series, I seemed to really be drawn into the story and especially the characters. So you could say it was a pivotal part in my gaming life, thats why it seems such a great game to me. =)

Ok, it did put Square into a superstar.

However, 9 snatched the title as my best Final Fantasy ever.

I know this sounds like a silly theory, but I think it's so popular because it was the first one in the franchise to be 3D.
Similar to X, the one had the first voice acting and that was popular too.
I've only played VII, VIII, X, XII, it's a toss up between VII and X.

It is what made GTA so popular, And If i'm honest, the GTA's preceding GTAIII - aside from maybe the london expansion, weren't that great.

That's not a silly theory btw, that's the truth, well according to alot of fanboys etc but X was a better game than VII in most respects I think from your choices.
