I have no real preference. I've done playthroughs at all 3 karma levels. Though I suppose if I had to pick it would be very good, simply because that's what I would default to anyways. But to be honest I don't care what the karma meter says. I played a good character that had bad karma because he made raiders into slaves rather than killed them. I don't see how slavery is somehow worse than killing, but according to the game it is.

I think neutral is not as good, because good and evil both have benefits while neutral does not have as many. Anyway, the companions for good and evil are much better than the neutral ones in my opinion. Charon and Butch are the only neutral companions correct?
There aren't really any significant karma benefits beyond companions I think, unless you force yourself to make choices that only align to your karma level. Also Butch and Sergeant RL-3 are the neutral companions (Charon is no karma). And RL-3 is the best companion in the game. It doesn't matter to me if he isn't as strong as Fawkes. Fawkes always drones on and on about about annoying crap like fate in morality in that irritating super mutant voice, while RL-3 declares your enemies to be godless commies. Which do you think is more entertaining to travel with?

Very good. I dunno why, I'm just nice or something. Plus, you seem to get more stuff when you're good.

I get more caps as an asshole, although, I was good in the "You gotta shoot 'em in the head," quest because of the power armor.

Neutral because I was in a post apocalyptic world where everyone fought for themselves. The only friend I had in the entire world was Dogmeat.

Very Good simply because im nice and it seeps into how i behave In-game as well.

I never used any of the Companions, They were more something i worried over than used in combat so i didn't bother and went solo
Did you ever trying using the dog? I swear to god, he's unkillable. I once tried killing him with the Fat Man. 10 mini-nukes later, I BARELY MADE SCRATCH IN HIS HEALTH BAR.

Do not pick on Fawkes! He is awesome! Oh and yes, I suppose my avatar does look a bit suggestive.

Really? the dog is the worst for me, Cute, lovable, and leaping of into the jaws of death just to spite me.

Perhaps your using a lower difficulty? i always slide the bar down to the hardest difficulty.

Yes. Fawkes, indeed.

But I played the hero in Fallout 3 because that's just what I do. Fawkes was just icing. Really badass icing.

i go back and forth between good and bad karma i never needed to have a companion to help me and the only time i got Fawkes was by accident during a good playthrough and that was near the end of the game and i already beat the other side quest and DLC.

Very good. I don't like dealing with the repercussions of my actions. For example, i couldn't shoot two people in their household for their stuff and then try to explain to little Timmy that his mum and dad are just 'sleeping'. Just like i don't like being told off for doing an inexplicably evil action by some kind of authority figure in the game world. I don't like being told 'you pig, you could have given that medicine to the poor! instead you sold it to a criminal faction to profit from~" and so on. I also don't see the point of going rogue and just blasting people who annoy me because people are what make the game world more vibrant and alive. I don't want to kill potentially important characters and suffer the consequences later on when i can't do a certain quest. Though i am never adverse to (more than a bit) of stealing or breaking and entering.

Neutral/Good. I shoot everything I see, but more often than not what I see end up being evil creatures and such.

I usually play on medium-hardish. Maybe my dog is bugged?

I think so, also it may be more difficult to kill him out of combat, which it sounds like you were doing. I ended up not bringing him with me through the second half of the game just because he would die so easily.

Actually, the only time I got him to below half health was when I left him fighting a deathclaw for 10 minutes.
