As many of you know, Multiplayer is sort of a mixed thing when it comes to the Escapist Community. Most hate it with a fiery passion, others like it. So who are those who do like it?

I for one love it. I still love SP, but when I got a good MP game, I really put time into it. :)

I also found the argument for FPS multiplayer games: "I don't want to play an FPS online becuase of the stupid kids with mics" really bad, becuase you don't ever need to listen to them. Anyone claiming it, is lying. In about 99% of Multiplayer games have mute buttons, and if you can't mute them. Their always an option to turn down the volume of voices.

Nope, once upon a time I did but games are a very different place nowadays. I still enjoy co-op though, however while that is multiplayer I don't consider it so, if you get me.

I enjoy playing online multiplayer but sometimes it seems like I'm spending 60% of the time looking for matches. It becomes annoying.

Soon I'll be back to playing PC games online...at least they don't take as long.

Suprised at the results so far, I assumed it was going to be like 60 in 'no' already.

If it's not an RPG or something else I tend to play for the single player experience, cooperative/competitive multiplayer can be a really fun experience. Love that game? You'll love it more with your buddy as long as he's not a dick.
That's where I think a lot of people diverge on multiplayer. A lot of (read: not all) people that can't stand it tend to fall into one of two categories from my experience:
1)They don't like the sheer amount of douche they experience online with other people taking advantage of the anonymity. Depending on the game, this can be remedied by getting together a good few friends that share your goals in that game (playing for srs, messing around, kicking back, etc.), but such a team can be quite the task to find.
or
2)They don't like what multiplayer's popularity has done to the gaming industry. This is also understandable, and something that can't be fixed as easily as finding a couple of buddies, though it may help you cope. Multiplayer almost feels like a requirement for many genres, and is being added to other genres and franchises you wouldn't expect to be seeing it in as well (Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood comes to mind here). I'm of the opinion that if it's done well, multiplayer is something that can add long-lasting replayability for your favorite games, as opposed to a longer mediocre experience when handled badly.

Meh. Not really. I think it's something I might get into eventually, but right now I still vastly prefer SP.

Depends on the game. I do for example like TF2, which has variety. Along with AC Brotherhood, as it kinda plays out differently depending on the players. Though I dislike CoD with a passion. It is just so hard for new players.

Yeah it really depends what kind of Multiplayer for me, and yes L4D2 MP is quite awesome indeed.

Of course to be fair, if a game has a single player element to it, that has to pretty good before I even consider getting. Sometimes good Multiplayer doesn't make up for shitty Single player.

It depends:

If I log on and none of my friends are online I don't bother joining random lobbies and just play SP campaign.

If I log on and some of my friends are online I hook up in a party and play MP for hours.

Steam or Xbox?
That would be Steam of course. I'm assuming you'd like my Steam Handle?

People and 12 year-olds with high pitched voices are rather annoying. Bu´t online gameplay promises hours of unpredictable gameplay that keeps even the best players on their toes.
What it does to the story/solo content of games is unforgiveable but it is still a healthy change from the routine of single player mode.

I enjoy multiplayer. The ever changing players give new challenges and make a game less monotonous. Also, I take great satisfaction in targeting whinny 12 year olds.

I like it, but I prefer local which is steadily disappearing.
