That was exactly my line of thought. I respect Garrus, as does my canon Shep, way too much to miss on purpose for him.Zhukov said:

I missed the shot because I have always felt bad for Garrus. Through all three games he gets the short end of the stick, so I decided to give him a break and miss the shot.
He had the dumbest AI in ME2 thought maybe that was just me but every time I brought him along he would just stand up and die. It's not like he was getting flanked or anything he would just stand up and not get back behind cover. Like I said maybe it was just my copy of ME2 or something but after that I just brought Grunt or Legion instead.distortedreality said:

Haha I initially thought this was going to be about not romancing him in the second one and not being able to in the third. On THAT topic I made a mistake when trying to romance him in the second, and was heartbroken when I found him with Tali in the third. Sad day...

I was on a Fembromantic date with him.
I hit the shot because i assumed we'd keep going and something funny would happen, i didn't think it would stop there. But he took it with pride so i gotta respect that.

I wish that it was actually on me to try to shoot the bottles, then I would have lost just because I fail at sniping. Then he could be happy about winning, and I wouldn't have to feel like a dick for letting him win and sorta kinda lying.

Nah, I hit the bottle. I respect my turian buddy way too much to go easy on him.
I'm on my second playthrough now, so I'll probably miss the shot this time around for the sake of the dialogue.

I made the shot. My Shepard never misses and she knows it would take more than being able to shoot a can out of the air to get our Garrus down. Plus, while Shepard may have been able to shoot the can, Garrus could have shot the bullet out of the sky if he wanted to.
There you go Bioware, a free DLC idea. Include a scene where Garrus shoots an incoming sniper round out of midair. Totally ridiculous of course, but still...
