I was going to... but then he made fun of my dancing. Garrus, you're my bro and all, but I don't let people make fun of my Shep's dancing :3

Missed on purpose. He was my romance option and it just felt somewhat right to let him win, at least for my Shepard. Also, what he said and how he behaved afterwards, I was so happy and amused that eventually I didn't regret it at all.

However, my Infiltrator will not let him win. They are bros, Garrus will be able to live with it. Also, my renegade Shepard will not let him win either. My ReneShep and Garrus are also total bros and no way will she let him take the glory. But it was perfectly fitting for my main Shep to let him gloat. It was such an awesomely adorable scene.

I made the shot... I respect him too much to just go and purposefully miss. I felt i'd be giving him some sort of backwards insult. Besides, you'll never be better than Commander Shepard right? That includes you Garrus, sorry bro.

Though my FemShep will miss the shot, i've decided. Wonder how the "bar in the sky" scene plays out with FemShep... Could they make it any more awesome?
If you romanced him as Femshep it's kind of heartbreaking. Not gonna lie, it got to me.

OT: I missed it, if only because I like the dialogue better.

I didn't miss the shot. If Garrus is to develop to his full potential, then he doesn't need Shepard to coddle him; he needs Shepard to keep pushing him to excel.

I shot the bottle but have since come to the conclusion that it might have been better to let him win. If you think back to the Shadow Broker DLC in ME2 where you can read his profile, it states that Garrus has great potential for leadership but Shep overshadows and stifles him. On top of that there are quite a few dialogues where Garrus jokingly states that he's the better of the two (insecure?). Also several scenes where he does a bit of verbal sparring with the rest of the crew (beta male behaviour?). You might even go so far as to say that Garrus secretly resents Shep. Not greatly, but certainly a little bit. So let him have at least a bit of time in the lime light. Then he might not be so quick to prove how boss he is by executing his next merc when he's supposed to be giving him the squeeze.

This.

Yes. Garrus is awesome and he should be the king of sniping. I wish the game had put it on me to actually hit it though.

I missed. Garrus is a sharpshooter. I'm a nut-job with a machine gun and a bag full of explosives. Though I'm kind of pissed that we didn't jump in the lake. That would have been awesome.

With my [me]Shep, I couldn't NOT make the shot. I respect him far too much to purposefully miss, as it would be a hollow victory.

Of course I did! Garrus is my favourite squadmate, so I do what I can to make him happy.

Also, I'm kinda banging him.

Hell no. That scene made me love him as a character and as a friend, but I don't think Shepard would ever let someone win. It demeans both of them.

If he wants to show her up, he's gotta do it on his own.

I missed it on purpose because in reality I am not as good a shot as Garrus, and however badly I'd like to be - well let's just say I rely on time-dialation to line up my shots too much of the time to feel like I would be justified in claiming to be a better sharp-shot than my man Garrus, even if the game will let me say I am.

I think that's a little different than missing it out of wanting to boost his self-esteem.

I played a sentinel, and used everything BUT guns. How do you expect me to make that shot? Besides, happy Garrus makes a happy Shepard, and a happy Shepard doesn't shoot himself in the face because of stress.

Of course I missed it.

Garrus is my space-lion bro, I felt he deserved to have that little feeling of happiness, to be able to say he could out-snipe Commander Shepard.

Also, that was probably my favourite line of dialogue on the Citadel.

Totally agree. There has been a lot of good moments in the ME series, but this was really one of the best. The extreme humanity of it all was almost overwhelming. It is a testament to Biowares skill that we care so much about a few pixels. My hat is off to them for this one.
