Poll: So.... Who missed the shot for Garrus?

Missed, Garrus was always a better shot that my Shep, so it only made sense that he got the shot and I didn't, and it really felt like a bro moment when he got so happy.

My Shep missed because Garrus had a shitload on his plate, and beating Shepard undoubtedly would have made him feel a helluva lot better.

I made the shot... I respect him too much to just go and purposefully miss. I felt i'd be giving him some sort of backwards insult. Besides, you'll never be better than Commander Shepard right? That includes you Garrus, sorry bro.

Though my FemShep will miss the shot, i've decided. Wonder how the "bar in the sky" scene plays out with FemShep... Could they make it any more awesome?

That's once I stop playing UMVC3 every damn night that is and continue my bloody second playthrough.

Well I missed, but I kinda didn't do it on purpose. I just didn't feel like my Shepard could make that shot. Not with me behind the controls. I always thought Garrus was better. I don't understand why they didn't actually let us to take the shot in real time instead of giving us an option to choose what to do. It's not like shooting is a foreign thing in Mass Effect 3. It's all there is to it.

Oh my gosh, that's hilarious xD My Vanguard I'm currently playing through with would totally do that.

On my first playthrough I hit the shot. I had to think about it for a bit but I went with my fellow infiltrators - My Shep is the headshot queen and wouldn't be missing that.

I hit it, because he said "It's impossible" and I wanted to show Garrus that I could do "the impossible".

Sort of wished I'd missed it though, probably will if I play through it again.

My Garrus ended up with Tali(bastard stole her from me after it turned out my Shep couldn't les it up). So in retrospect, I'm glad I didn't miss, since in the end he got the better deal anyway.

From what I've seen there hasn't really been a lot of talk about Mass Effect 3 beyond the ending fiasco....

So to lighten the mood a little, did you purposefully miss the shot for Garrus on your romantic/bromantic date on the citadel?

I did across all my playthroughs so far, simply because the guy is constantly under Shep's shadow and he needs it. Espeacially with Palaven and his mother etc. etc. Also if you look at the Shadow Broker documents, it clearly says that he won't develop to his full potential under Shepard's shadow, I thought that giving him the best shot title would definitely help with that.

So, for discussion value, why did you make the choice you made?

I missed for pretty much the same reasons you did. Garrus needed one-up on Shepard and it was so heart-warming to see him celebrate. Well worth the tiny bruise my ego may have took...not that it did!

For the record, I played a male-Shepard so it was all platonic but he's always been my main confidante and de facto lieutenant or second so if someone would call our relationship a bromance, I could definately see why. We just happen to draw the line at touching each others naughty bits and stuff! ;-)

My Femshep is a sniper (infiltrator). She is with Liara, so she and Garrus have more of the "bromance" going on. No need to stroke his ego (or anything else - badump tish! )

He challenged my Shep to a fair contest. So I competed fairly. Because anything else would have been an insult to Garrus' skill. Garrus IS awesome - no need to play pretend.

That is just because Garrus isn't in charge of the team. If he and Shepard switched places, he could make peace between the Quarians and Geth and kill a Reaper at the same time. While calibrating the Normandy's guns.

I pretend I did though, because what I'd do (Paragade) and what Shepard (whom I consider Paragon through and through) aren't the same.

Still on my first Shep & he wants to see all his colleagues get their chance to shine out from under his shadow. This meant doing without help from a certain space marine so they could go and set up their own franchise of heroic badassery. It also meant that letting Garrus have the marksmanship contest was a no-brainer.

I missed it, I felt my Soldier character wouldn't be better at sniping bottles than Garrus. Now if I was playing my Infiltrator character, you bet your ass I'm making that shot.

Also, I need someone to know they can deal with the bottles lest they rise up while I'm away on a mission.

Out of interest, does this scene play out the same if you play a character class that isn't trained with a sniper rifle?

I played a Vanguard who never touched a sniper rifle without a bottle of purell on standby, so I missed as it fit the character who did all his fighting with pistols and biotics.
I did have the option to hit though.
