Who is hoping the 11th Doctor has to regenerate?

I don't really like the current Doctor as much as I did the last one.

So if he regenerates what kind of person do you hope he becomes?

I want a cynical old man or at least cynical.

Also if you could would you like to talk like a Dalek?

Well I started watching with the new doctor. So I'm biased to like him, Tennant was good too but I go with Matt Smith because that's how I got introduced to Dr. Who.

I liked Eccleston, and I really liked Tennant, but I honestly think that Matt Smith feels more like what I imagine The Doctor to be.

While I do enjoy Tennant, I'm more a fan of the 'Classic Who' because they were a little more 'fun' most of the time.

Personally, I don't 'get' the hate Smith gets.
I love how he's got a bit of that 2nd Doctor's mischievous/dark side and the 4th Doctor's sort of 'bit of a nutter, isn't he'-ness.

It's already been confirmed that Matt is going to survive THIS season/series.

However Amy/Rory, well, they'll be leaving before the 2012 Xmas Special.
So...does that mean someone is going to die?
I kind of hope not.

I don't mind Matt Smith. But if he had to regenerate I'd love to see Idris Elba play the doctor. He'd be great and a fresh take on the Doctor.

The only reason people dislike Matt Smith (in my opinion at least) is because he is in the impossible position of being compared to David Tennant.

Smith is a fantastic man to play the Doctor, able to pull off dark and moody as good as he does his insane eccentricness.

Tennant is by far my favorite.

Between Eccleston and Smith, it's odd. I prefer Eccleston as the Doctor, but I prefer the story-style that goes along with Smith's version (It's more serialized. The show was rather procedural with Eccleston, which is fine for some people but I find it hard to maintain interest. Feels too static).

Tennant had a lot of serialized storytelling that I got really invested in and he had a wonderful take on the Doctor.

All this said, I don't dislike Matt Smith.

I so didn't know Elba was British until I randomly watched a bit of an episode of some show on Netflix. Weirded me out. I was used to him as Stringer Bell [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0oVG9bLHP0] in The Wire.

The reason people dislike Matt Smith is because the writing took a massive nose dive in the last two seasons, and they attribute that to Smith rather than the writers.

I've been wanting this since his first episode. If this isn't Smith's last season, I'm gonna be kind of mad.

As for what kind of Doctor I'd like to replace him? One that's more well-acted. I really don't care about the character traits, I just care that they're portrayed well.

Probably Luther, he's fantastic in that. Slamming that character together in my mind with Heimdall and Stringer Bell makes a good doctor.

I've liked all the doctors I've seen so far, but what I want to change about the show is It's main companion. I hate the shit out of Amy.

I love the current (11th) Doctor for one very serious reason. He feels like an alien. When Doctor Who rehit the airwaves it was amazing. Christopher Eccleston hit the the series I was impressed.

One because Paul McGann was being dropped without a regeneration when Sylvester McCoy was goodly enough to come onto McGann's crap movie and do a regeneration. But "I'm Doctor, run!" sold me.

I got tired with Rose before we switched to 10th (David Tennant) and I just didn't care.

As much as I loved Donna, and though she was what NuWho needed... what Tennant Doctor has a metacrisis and is human in one form... well yeah I'll see you later. The Doctor doesn't sexually regenerate.

A least not with Rose.... okay four specials that shows the Doctor's regeneration.... Wilf? Yeah he's awesome, no doubt, but can we get Donna?

No?

Okay Matt Smith. Geronimo. Walks around in rags and tatters the first episode. "One word... run." Okay! Welcome Colin Baker's Doctor. Perfect. Love Interest.... killed by Rory marriage plot. Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue!

Episode called Doctor's Wife where it isn't annoying River Song but rather a script by Neil Gaiman written so that the Tardis can talk? And she explains the plot hole of "why does the Doctor show up where he does?" Perfect.

I have nothing to say but this... the Matt Smith hate, no understanding. Maybe it's because I started with McCoy, got comics with Tom Baker's version and as a Yankee got McGann for the movie. I'm used to a different face for the Doctor.

Next Series is enough (would be shocking if he regenerates mid-season)

I don't really like the current Doctor as much as I did the last one.
I like Tennant better, but given that beforehand i really really wasn't faithful in Smith, he did exceptionally well so far.

So if he regenerates what kind of person do you hope he becomes?

I want a cynical old man or at least cynical.
Ever since i've seen Jekyll (also by Moffat), i want James Nesbitt to be the next Doctor (i hoped for him as a replacement for Tennant already).
His portrayal of Hyde was already pretty much like an "Evil Doctor", and he did a great job being both maniacally gleeful and mature with a sense of authority.

As such, i like to see an older Doctor with these qualities.

I liked all three of them, actually.
I wouldn't mind the current Doctor regenerating, but I wouldn't mind if he stayed either. Let's just see what the story brings us.
If the Doctor had to change, I'd like an older man to fill the roll. I am a big fan of the second doctor, and I'd love to see something like that again. (Cosmic hobo!)

Hated all of them. They need to bring back an authoritative, old-school man of a distinguished air, like the 3rd doctor and not keep generating these buffoons who feel the need to fit into every modern Earth culture they regenerate into. Even someone like the 1st doc would be better, and he would feel a hell of a lot more alien than some leather jacketed, Earth word slanging, baby faced average joe.

It would be great if they could get John Hurt

All e Doctors are great in their own way. David Tennant played The Doctor more as 'the legend' while Matt Smith plays the funny, strange, smart madman. But I really want the next season released soon before I go crazy. I need my Doctor Who fix damnit!

I believe Tennant would happily confirm this, but everyone remembers their first Doctor.

As such, I've got a special place in my heart for Eccleston's Doctor. But Donna definitely wins for companion, and Gaiman wins for writer. Wouldn't want him to do every episode (He'd have no time for other awesome stuff!), but the ones he does sure do rock.
