I know it's gratuitous and often plain silly, but I just might check this one out. It's a guilty pleasure I suppose :D

If I ever meet a gorgeous, English-speaking, German supermodel who agrees to go out with me and who's a big fan of the Saw movies, then yes, I will go see it.

Who knows? If she has a sister, I might even go see it twice.
An attitude that I myself may take. In all seriousness though, I find the concept unbareably disgusting. I had a Saw-esque dream last night that nearly made me sick.

The day that I finally give in and have a Saw marathon will be the day I watch this one; but that day is a little while off. I skipped Saw V when it played at the cheap theater and I'll be skipping Saw VI this year. Besides, I never really get into movie series' that have this many titles. I've noticed that most series' that lasted as long as Saw generally start out great but descend into sh-t really quickly (see: Planet of the Apes, Star Wars (assuming that you consider A New Hope first), Death Wish, Rocky, Rambo, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Leprechaun, Alien, Halloween, etc). Notable exceptions include the Harry Potter series which seems to be getting relatively better with each movie and Star Trek which bounced from good to bad every other movie instead of following the usual pattern.
You say Rambo declined into shit but Harry Potter got better?
Im detecting mass amounts of fail. Over 9000!
Cute.

Yes Harry Potter got better. Watch some of the older movies and tell me that isn't true. The series has gotten a lot better as it got darker, despite the fact that the latest movie was a bit of a misstep. And Rambo has gotten worse. First Blood meant something; it really pushed home the fact that a soldier can never really go back to the way things used to be. It was an incredible story and should be better remembered. The series has since gotten more violent, sure, but it lost its symbolism and meaning. If I wanted a mindless bloody action thriller I'd watch a Seagal flick.

So your saying that the story of how John Rambo was forced back into service and was left for dead, managed to retrieve his fellow soldiers from a war long gone and then go off into the the world to find peace was shit? Or how he Found his peace, yet risked his life again and again to save his only friend he has left, and helped a race of people who were getting killed and taking down a sadistic army? Or how about him taking Aid workers into a War Torn country who get captured and decides to help them from an untimely demise?
So your saying the story of the last 3 Rambo films was shit? I cannot take you seriously anymore.
The fact that you can sum up the scripts of those three films in one sentence each only proves my point. You can also probably sum up the first one in just one sentence as well, but you would not be able to mention the sheer force of that script. I'm not knocking First Blood Part 2; it wasn't as good as the first but it's still a good movie. Rambo 3 on the other hand was a terrible movie, especially when compared to the first two and Rambo was just an excuse for blood and explosions and mindless violence and its script was as thin as the paper it was printed on, like almost every other action movie out there. In my opinion, First Blood Part 2 wasn't shit, but the other two definitely were and I have no doubts that the next one won't break the series' steady decline.

I think the films have slowly got better and better, moving away from just the torture and towards a very heavy twisting story, I will watch 6 as I want to see where the story progresses to.

I know i am. I've loved each one from beginning to end, and i feel that this one won't be any different.

After all, a story is a story, and besides the serious Cluster Mind-Fuck throughout the whole thing, i've enjoyed it.

So yeah, who else is going to watch it?
You know what I am... not because I really want to see it, but my GF and I, on our first date, went and to see SAW 1... and so every year we go and see the next saw movie, or hire it, or buy it (depending on when they come out etc) on our anniversary...

Ok. They have made 6 movies in 5 years.
6 movies in 6 years actually.
No...
First one came out in 2004.

2009 - 2004 = 5

Edit: I guess I should be more lenient, I know they don't actually teach you to count in New Zealand.
THEY DO TOO!!! 1, 2, 4, 5, 6.. uhmmm... 96! See, we is being taughted wellness in the Land of the long white cloud, they even teach us England when we behave. [Which means no sheep sagging, which makes Ringo sad, Ringo likes sheep shagging].

Anyways, steering my rambling, demented mind back on track: I am, I can actually watch this one in the cinemas. [Stupid R18 rating]. I don't really care for the series plotline or anything, I just like watching the inventive traps, and of course the gore associated.

What is the point of this series? Isn't it just the same plot over and over again?

I seen the first one when it came out and thought it was a nice/refreshing/interesting horror movie for once. When the sequel came out I was a little confused on why they wanted to make a sequel (obviously money... but I just thought the first was good enough to stand on its own)... I didn't care much for the second one, it was watchable though. The 3rd one I just fast forwarded through to some choice scenes because I couldn't sit through the "acting"... and I haven't seen any since... maybe one day I'll give them a try

You have to include 2009 as well. 2k4, 2k5, 2k6, 2k7, 2k8, 2k9. 6 years. Now apologize to the Kiwi.

I can sum up each Harry Potter movie in one sentence aswell
1- Harry finds out he is a Wizard and stops Voldemort.
2- Harry learns more about his past...and stops a younger Voldemort.
3- Harry learns about his godfather, and saves him.
4- Harry does a Wizard competition, and learns the Voldemort has been resurrected.
5- Harry builds an army, and tries to take on Voldemort, Godfather dies.
6- Harry tries to find the pieces of Voldemorts soul,
Dumbledore gets wasted.
See? I can be a dick too! Although I do agree RAmbo will be fail, Rambo taking on the Cartel? ...
You're oversimplifying the Harry Potter series. Really oversimplifying it. Besides, my question still stands: do you agree or disagree that the newer movies are better than the older ones? I believe so for both the books and the movies.

The only saw film with any merit was the first one, at least that one was vaguely compelling. All the sequels have become nothing more than a convoluted series of repeating the same tired formula
10 Amnesiac strangers wake up in jigsaw's room
20 strangers recognise differences
30 strangers ignore jigsaw's instructions
40 none of them get out
50 goto 10

And now there's a bloody game out aswell!?

I believe that I really should say this: I mean no disrespect to you or your taste in movies. To each their own. What you enjoy may not be in my tastes and visa versa and by no means do I have perfect tastes. I found Half Past Dead a ridiculously fun action movie and love watching it time and time again and I thoroughly enjoy Demolition Man; it gets better with every subsequent viewing for me. These two movies are considered among the worst movies made for their respective stars and very few publicly admit love for them. I would also love to say that I have really enjoyed our debate/argument. This is the best virtual confrontation I had since I resolved a spat between two YouTube commenters arguing over whether Brett Favre was a better athlete than LeBron James. I hope to see you a lot around these forums and possibly get into another heated debate. Cheers!

I loved Saw 1 so much that i will see every Saw movie that will come out, hoping that they will at least come close to the genius of Saw 1.
