Poll: Speed knifing in MW2

I hate knifers, but I love them at the same time. When I see a particular name pop up multiple times due to knife kills I can't wait for them to charge me so I can end their streak with a well placed headshot.

I don't have a problem with Lightweight or Marathon. But Commando needs to die in a fire!

Here's why; way to often to I round a corner (not sprinting) and there is a guy 10 feet away facing me. So, because I always forget the knife button when I panic. I open up exactly at the guys body only for me to get off 2 shots before all he does is launch 10 feet forward with one swift movement and take me out. No skill at all as his finger is probably hovered over the knife button while going round the corner. Cause that's what I would do.

i really don't midn it, to be fair, a shotgun is usually a 1 hit 1 kill weapon as well, and they have betetr range than the knife.

I've neve runderstood why people find that knife thing overpowered.

Sure it's fun to do now and again, but i find it weak compared to guns.

It only pisses me off when the guy using that set up has a far better connection than me.
Then you get that whole situation where you unload at least five bullets into a guy, only to have him teleport five metres and knife you in the face.

I play it to grief people. I have fun playing the game legitimately, but I have a lot more fun when I can make people crap their pants with rage.

Uh, that's... kind of douchey to be honest. Might want to see someone about your enjoyment of other peoples' suffering.

I had a wonderful moment yesterday. Not sure quite what happened but a guy commando lunged as I killed him and his dead body teleported towards me... scared the shit out of me but made me laugh.

It doesnt take skill, it ruins your enjoyment of the game, it can bypass shots completely, encourages more poeple to use the cheap tactics to win, people who use it come up with a crappy defence which always ends up being "Its a game, calm down." which is true... it is a game, so why do you need to win so badly that you use the cheapest broken class in the game? I am getting angry because I paid just as much as you to play the game and you are ruining my experience of the game because you cant aim and dont want to put the time in to get good at the game.

Some people you know enjoy playing with the knife class. When playing mw2 I find it fun to try and unlock everything. I didnt know what lightweight or marathon pro was so I set up a knife class and decided to find out. Sure its not as fun for me as killing people with a riot shield but I enjoyed myself and I really dont care if people on the other team are nerd raging about it. Its a game get over it, in fact when I was doing that we used to take shots everytime somebody would nerd rage inbetween games.

Oh and even on your best day you dont stand a chance in hell against the people I play with, we can regularily go into games even against other clans and dominate 7500-2000. The only problem is people leave after one game even when we all play "legitimatly" like you say, although using any custom class is a legitimate strategy.

I am going to list 3 reasons why, on your best day, you dont stand a chance against me in this argument:

1) You either didnt read what I wrote or you didnt understand the fairly basic words I used.

2) You make baseless claims such as "even on your best day you dont stand a chance in hell against the people I play with".

3) You quoted me as saying "legitimatly"(You spelled it wrong so, as I was quoting you, I did the same.) when I never actually said it at all so we know you are the kind of person who will lie to attempt to make a point... making any claim you have made and will make much less credible.

Now I will go ahead and point out 3 reasons why your counter argument isnt even a counter argument:

1) You never actually refute any point I made, you went along the same lines as what I had already said... even flat out agreeing with me at some points. For example, your entire opening paragraph was either bringing up arguments that I didnt actually mention (basically arguing with no one, but I dont think you even realise you are doing this.) or agreeing that you are being dicks and that you dont care. Apathy doesnt mean you win, its not a counter point.

2) Even though I said that cheap tactics ruin others enjoyment of the game, even though they have exactly the same right to enjoy the game as you do, you completely ignore that and say that as long as you have fun (even if it is less fun than you would have had by playing normally) you dont care who you annoy or whose gaming experience you ruin... completely selfish and pretty much the definition of a "dick move", not something to be proud of and certainly not good.

3) Baseless claims goes for this one too... you offer up stats and your own word but nothing else and say thus you are better than me, said stats and testimony are just as easily cast aside because no proof was offered for them so no proof is needed against them... as if that werent enough you then sabotaged your own word by lying and making your own testimony come into question.

Overall, you couldnt beat me in an argument because you are blocking your own path, you offer now proof, bring up unrelated issues and dont realise that you are actually supporting my points at times too.

Oh, you are also dragging your own character through the mud by telling everyone how you lack skill and are completely inconsiderate.

Also, being in a clan is not impressive and it most certainly is not a sign of skill. Its basically a big neon sign telling everyone else that you are going to behave like all clans do, you will have no skill, you wont aim, you wont be gracious in defeat or victory, you WILL use every cheap trick in the book. Clans are the reason my friends and I dont all have the same tags and if someone mistakes us for a clan, we are obviously offended by such an insult. Clans are the online equivelent of gangs, they arent good, they dont add anything to the community, they only serve to make things worse for everyone else.

And I will end by saying this, either get better at debating or dont bother replying. The very least you could have done before replying in the first place was read my post yet you seem to have failed in doing that. You claimed "Its a game get over it" (Once again you show literacy isnt one of your strong point thus I must miss out some punctuation when quoting you.) and yet you have to win so badly that you give up everything else just to win, I accepted the fact that its just a game a long time ago... as in, when I first started playing games. I accepted that it was a pass time for people to enjoy, not just me! I know its just a game and isnt truly important and that is why I dont use any cheap tactics, because I actually got good at the game and I win through skill alone thus making sure I enjoy the game AND I dont ruin anyone elses game either. That excuse has been spat out of every cheap gamers mouth at some point because thats the excuse given to them before they started using the same tactics and they were stupid enough to believe it rather than think about it, but I did think about it and yeah... its just a game, something for everyone to enjoy. Thats why I dont need to win by any means and ruin other peoples games... I just play the game.

Hmm, looks like I won both morally and literally. Now crawl back into your hole troll, and dont claim to not be a troll because someone who does things to annoy others and then abuses them for getting annoyed is a troll.

I don't mind knifers, I knife a lot, though I usually don't go on knifing streaks. I use my knife when it's functional. It's a shooter for crying out loud. That said, I use Marathon-Stopping Power-Commando a lot, though never with Lightweight, SMG or shotgun. I like to be mobile, but I don't need Lightweight. The knifing range can be very useful.

I joined a Hardcore TDM recently and there were three prepubescent children on my team just TK'ing. There should be a kick/ban function. And people shouldn't give this game to ten year olds.

I traded my MW2 a long time ago for BBC2, but I remember the dumbass knifers. They are incredibly annoying, and fail at life, but IMO the game is broken and stupid anyways. What was Infinity Ward thinking making this a possibility? No fall damage is stupid too. It's supposed to be a more realistic FPS, but when you play online with it that whole "Idea" goes straight to Hell with perks. If perks disappeared I may buy the game again. I must say the decision to make barebones was awesome. Kill-streaks are gay as fuck and extremely overpowered. I would pick Borderlands over both MW2 and BBC2 any day though.

is the p90/silencer/doubletap/steady aim/bandolier trick from MW1 still possible? if so, good luck knifers... ( dont aim down the sights, the ammo will go where you want it to, it just wont go through walls, realy, try this build, especialy on pc XD )

I dont see HOW people can get annoyed or fustrated as knifers are simple to counter. Take one gun, aim at one person, pull one trigger = one dead knifer. I think that if you allow somebody to get close enough to you to knife you then you deserve to die, you after all are the one with the long range weapon.

I use that perk combo, but mainly use my Vector or shotgun. Always bothered me these soldiers can't run 10 feet without getting tired.

No you werent, you were claiming that you and everyone that you play with is better than me. Despite the fact that you have have nothing to base this claim on, thus the only logical thing you could be basing this on is that I dont use cheap tactics... so you are saying I dont use cheap tactics so I cant win against clans.

3) You misunderstood what I was doing I wasnt quoting you. Everybody keeps sayings its not a legitimate strategy but anything put in the game is perfectly legitimate unless your using cheats or glitches which it doesnt use. Sure it uses lag to its advantage but thats not cheating or glitching its using the game.

If you werent quoting me then dont use quotation marks and dont say things like ""legitimatly" like you say", oh and by the way... thats how you quote someone. Oh and exploiting lag is most certainly cheap... hence lag switching being hated.

Some people enjoy the knifing strategy, they dont play it because its cheap or because others hate it they play it because they enjoy that syle of play. I like to unlock everything I can so thats why I was using the commando setup. Not everybody does it to act like a complete dick thats the point I was trying to get across.

If they got their ass handed to them every time they used a knife they would not use it, why? Because getting killed and effectively not being able to experience the game isnt fun... however, that isnt what happens. They run around and get quite a lot of kills... sure they die a lot too but they get kills too. THATS why they play it, and that syle of play doesnt take skill so they are saying they play it because they win without effort.

Iv said it many times before to people who bring up the arguement aswell that if your to stupid/suck/lazy to use one of the many many counters to the knifing strategy you have no right to complain about them. I do however enjoy it when people start going on nerd rages inbetween games because somebody on the other team is better then them. The thing about your arguement is why should I force myself to have less fun because you dont like my playstyle.

If you actually got anyone with that argument then you argue with children and idiots because guess what, that argument doesnt fly with me. Its not because they are stupid or because they suck... knifing is a 1-hit kill, moves you over large ground quickly, doesnt need ammo, doesnt make a noise, can teleport through shotgun blasts, gets better with lag rather than worse, etc. Everything about the knife is cheap and a person not being able to kill them isnt their fault, its because the odds are vastly against them.

Why are you being so inconsiderate of the feelings of those who use the knife strategy. Mabey its more fun for then and they shouldnt be forced to have less fun in the game because you dont like them.

Why am I being inconsiderate to inconsiderate people is what you are asking here... I have already explained why your already weak argument of "maybe more fun for them" is completely without merit, that isnt why they play that class. If that class didnt have so many unfair advantages and always got beaten people wouldnt use it... its why you dont get knifers in hardcore game modes.

My "clan" as you so put it is me some friends from college and other real life friends of ours. We dont play to win we play to have fun. If were playing to win then thats in a tourny and thats completely different. We generally get together do some shots and screw around on mw2. I fully admit sometimes we have gotten carried away and may have ruined the game for others, like when we all had negative scores and yet still won.

I did read your post, let me reply to it in a more simplier way so you might understand

1) it doesnt ruin my enjoyment of the game so stop putting words in other peoples mouths
2) I dont need to win at all costs but if somebody has the most fun by using the knife class why shouldnt they be allowed to
3) Just because they use the knife class doesnt mean they cant aim or dont have any skill.
4) Its not the cheapest most broken class setup in the game infact its actually a pretty bad one on most levels
5) when in doubt insuld somebodies grammer

See your biggest problem is you think that everybody enjoys the exact same thing in the game that you do. Some people enjoy only playing team deathmatch, other prefer the more varied game modes and other actually enjoy playing the knife class more then shooting people with a gun. The sooner you realise that they better off we will all be. Alot of them dont do it to win at all costs like you say but because THEY ENJOY PLAYING THE KNIFE CLASS MORE. Its kind of like how i enjoy using a riot shield more then anything else. The its just a game comment is because I dont understand why people get so worked up about them Iv been shot across the map by random grenades, noob tubes, spawned twice under the same harrior strike, etc and none of it bothers me I often get a good laugh out of it.


If you answer nothing else then atleast reply to this question here. Why should I force myself to have less fun when playing a game so that some stranger who I dont know can enjoy it more.

Edit: I find it exremely funny that the man claiming the moral high ground is telling others that sorry but they arnt allowed to enjoy the game.

1) I never said it ruins your enjoyment so learn to read and understand English... I said that even by your own testimony you dont enjoy playing the knife class as much as you do others.

2) Already explained how having fun with the knife class directly sincs up with winning. And like I said, if you need to use cheap tactics then you are doing it to win.

3) Yeah, it does. Doesnt take skill to tap a button that homes in on to anyone near you, like with the AA12... it isnt the only shotgun however it is the one you use when you dont plan on aiming, and if you dont aim to get a kill then that doesnt take skill.

4) Yes, I will admit that one certain level you dont get people using the knife class... which of course ruins your argument that they are doing it for fun.

That level is Wasteland, which is when people turn in their knife class for either their n00b tube class, thermal scope class or the rare riot shield class. I cant think of a single other level that actually offers a disadvantage to knifers other than that one, and like I said... all you see on that one level is other cheap class' being used by the knifers... further proving my point that the knifers use cheap classes to win.

5) Actually I left insulting your grammar to the very end because I wasnt in doubt... if the entire thing was about your terrible, terrible literary skills then you might have a point but it wasnt even close to being that.

I will answer that question you asked (without putting a question mark on the end... T_T), because it isnt just you vs 1 person... its your knifing class against every enemy player everytime you play it that is diminishing their enjoyment by a large amount. And you even said yourself that you dont enjoy it as much as other class'... so you will lessen your own fun for the meaningless experience you get by advancing perks which get reset anyway but you wont lower your fun a slight amount (or even raise your fun if you were using one of the classes you enjoy) so that you dont ruin other peoples games? See, thats why you are an inconsiderate jerk. You think that ruining something for a bunch of people is worth it as long as you have slightly more fun than you would otherwise, you have to see how your mentality is not that of a good person.

Many people have said that knifers have ruined certain games for them... and lets assume that they do only play as the knife for fun as you say they do, not using the knife would not ruin the game for the knifers (unless of course you agree with me that they only play as the knifers to win and thats all they care about and cant use weapons that actually require aiming and even a small amount of skill to use) it would only lower the amount they enjoy the game... and not by much I assume as you already said that it isnt about winning so they should have fun playing anway even if it is not as much fun.
