I shed a few tears for my CRT display when it went by the wayside but after an adjustment period, I can say I have never been a happyer.

I upgraded to a widescreen (16:10 1650x1050 20") last year... I never loved a monitor before, I find the workspace so much less constricting and it's better for games/movies obviously. Not had any real problems with things not liking the aspect ratios - one or two old games that needed me to alter them to a custom resolution but nothing annoying.

Standard 15" 4:3. I personally hate widescreen, HD and Bluray. All this new crap is just a way to get more money from consumers. Besides, Widescreen is a stupid idea, you get to see more horizontally then vertically... this is an improvement how? And don't give me the "it looks more like how a human eye sees" crap. The unfortunate thing is that when I upgraded my PC and wanted to get an LCD monitor, I had to buy used to escape the widescreen fad.

I don't mind 4:3 or 5:4, but since I bought my new laptop (a week ago) I'm in love with 16:10 and 16:9. There's so much space.

Yep that's no problem... a lot of HD/TVs these days have VGA sockets in the back or alternatively you can get DVI-HDMI leads which cost pittance on amazon. Only thing is, you'll need to get sound to it through a seperate cable (usually an RCA cable with a phono-RCA adapter) or just plug in seperate speakers to your pc.

Standard 4:3 baby.. I need to have max Hz from my screen, else that hella expensive computer won't have a place to dump it's FPS.
My tv is 16:9 though.. with 600Hz :D

Recently upgraded to a 24" HD (widescreen) monitor. Haven't really had any issues with it, besides some games play in letterbox. But I didn't get the monitor for gaming, so I don't really care about that.

My game room is adorned with a standard size TV almost as old as I am.

It's rather big (width, height and depth) but time has ruined the top 1/5th of the screen, so there are deforming lines at that part.
Also the sound goes off every so often so I have to put it back on the AV mode.

I really need a new TV... I also need a new computer (7 years old, it takes up to 15 minutes to boot up and launch firefox) and a couch since I only have an uncomfortable office chair that squeeks like crazy.

I prefer the standard ratio. I like wide TVs and all, but when they're wide they should be high as well. But I want my new TV to be thin and pretty, so I suppose I'll have to settle with a widescreen.
