Yeah, should have put more details inEddie the head said:What did you watch? Because it looks nothing like TOR.BLAHwhatever said:Crashing Airplane with chesthigh boxes.
So... I've played that in Saint's Row 3 already. Twice. Now with graphics from Star Wars:TOR?
This presentation was very underwhelming.

Except the games use entirely different art styles. 1313 is more gritty realism and TOR is more cartoony. Compare 1313 characters to TOR characters. See? Different.BLAHwhatever said:Yeah, should have put more details inEddie the head said:What did you watch? Because it looks nothing like TOR.BLAHwhatever said:Crashing Airplane with chesthigh boxes.

It was litterally my first impression when the main character comes into the cockpit and stares at the hologram of the station while they go down to lvl 1313.
The main character looks exactly like a character creatable in TOR.
That's what I meant.
I admit the rest looked better and more detailed, granted.
But still underwhelming.
Yeah, the "clinging on the wing of the spaceship"-thing was a blatant rip-off. BTW, who else hates the GameTrailers-guy? I cannot take anything he say seriously, because he is a corporate puppet.KarmaTheAlligator said:So far it looks like Uncharted in Space. Not really impressed.
Well, he is working for a major corporation. I actually doubt Nathan Drake clung to the wing of a spaceship after crashing into another spaceship wile descending into a doom pit.SFMB said:Yeah, the "clinging on the wing of the spaceship"-thing was a blatant rip-off. High expectations, right. Like "Take x-wing alliance and give it HD graphics". Oh yeah. Just impossible. Or, "Take rogue squadron, update the graphics, and port it onto all platforms". Oh my god, no studio could possibly do that! Lucasarts is a low budget indie developer, right?Danne said:Well. look who woke up on the wrong side of the X-wing. That's all in the movies. The gritty realism comes in during the Expanded Universe. I would refer you to Republic commando (And the subsequent Imperial Commando) Here is a short list of things that deserve an M rating in that series alone.Racecarlock said:Sure, they could just make another X-wing and rogue squadron game and make millions of dollars as people line up around the block to blow up the death star again and also take down some star destroyers.
But no. Apparently the star wars universe needs "Gritty realism".
Seriously? Gritty realism? In a universe where space monks control a magical energy field to push and pull eachother and shoot lightning out of their fingertips, where moon sized space stations can blow up entire planets, where some random farm boy can blow up the moon sized space station that can blow up entire planets by focusing a bit, where the space monks have swords made of light that can melt through metal and cut through anything, where star fighters apparently run on gas (anyone notice the fuel pumps going into the x-wings when they were taking off to fight the death star), where everything has anti-gravity technology built in and even able to function when the engines are off, and so on and so on, people think this fucking universe needs gritty realism?
Seriously, it's like setting a mafia story in candyland instead of making the gingerbread man adventure people really want.
A clone committing suicide
A jedi being cut almost in half by another jedi before a group of clones destroys other jedi
A small hunting animal tearing a mans face off
A mandalorian Mercenary being decapitated
The list goes on....
Really. if they use this chance well, they can do some very col things with story and gameplay.
And really. i can understand Lucasarts shying away from X-Wing since everyone (I.E. you) has such high expectations of it that Lucasarts has no chance of fulfilling expectations.
you forgot one .. tie fighter 2 or re-release the fucking original!Sneezeguard said:I just want Kotor 3, republic commando 2, Battlefront 3 or a sequel to Empire at war.
I'd be happy with just one of them.![]()
Which was a damn fine game!Soviet Heavy said:My guess is that the game will have a light M rating. More than anything I think it's just a grab for publicity. The first m rated star wars game. Last time we had anything close to this level was Republic commando.Danne said:I't will be interesting. It's like a polar opposite to the Clone Wars in video game form. And grittier doesn't necessarily mean that. Gritty as in more mature story lines that they couldn't do with a T rated game.Soviet Heavy said:Looks really neat, but the comment in the gamespot video about how "fans want a gritty, mature Star Wars experience" rubbed me the wrong way.
We want a good story dammit, not everything needs to be blood and tits.
Erm, the last generic 3rd person cover-based shooter Yahtzee reviewed ended up being one of the few games ever to get his seal of approval. Games don't need to have ground-breakingly innovative gameplay every single new release to be good. So long as the gameplay holds up to certain standard, the storyline can carry the game, at least in my opinion.porpoise hork said:yeah.. I can't wait to see how Yahtzee crucifies this one for that.SomeBrianDude said:Something to show that this is more than another generic cover-based shooter is what it'll take to make me take notice of 1313, and what they've shown so far definitely does not.
