I prefered Star Trek but then Star Wars confused me a bit.

Why build a giant metal structure the size of a moon to blow up a planet using a laser (which cannot be done by itself for a start). And a couple of pilots who came out of their ships when they were close to the death star floated out to space. Hello?! What happened to gravity. Maybe I just don't like it because I never really "got" it though.
Star Wars is more of a Science Fantasy or a Space Opera than the Science Fiction of Star Trek. I think that's why so many people prefer SW over ST; you know, because SW isn't based as heavily on reality.

I cast my vote for Star Trek, because
1: It has Patrick Stewart in a bit of it
2: It's a bit more 'suspension of disbelief' than SW and I like suspension of disbelief
3: It does an excellent job of showing the flaws of humanity in its current state through many of the alien species in it (you know, like the Ferengi representing human greed and whatnot)

Star Trek, because:

- Patrick Stewart.
- Borg.
- Less on the emo, more on the let's deal with it.
- More realistic

But Star Wars is a good watch also, I'm not that picky on my sci-fi.

Okay. So let's take the trek people, ships and all that, and the star wars people, ships and everything. Put them on a neutral battlefield; IE Our own universe, with our laws of physics and well... No on second thought that might just crash our universe (cannot divide by zero).

This archive footage from Uncyclopedia [http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Picard] nicely settles the debate.

Star Trek owns Star Wars.

The amount of mouthbreathing star wars fan boidom in this thread would deplete the worlds asthma medication supply in one week.

That said.

I am tired of this comparison.

You cannot compare a fictional world that has technology which is not grounded in reality go up agianst a fictional world that uses current knowledge about known technology and possible advancements of that technology.

Its like comparing Lord of the Rings to any of the battles during the hundred years war. Its no comparison at all.

Think of it this way. Star Trek power generation is rooted in real physics and real scientific knowledge. Star Wars power generation is not.

So please can we all just agree to like whichever one we like and leave the other alone?

Besides the recent abrams attempt to make Star Trek Wars out of the reboot there really is no comparison between the two.

3: Stormtroopers just suck at shooting
Although I can quote Obi-wan on this; "These blast-points... Only Imperial stormtroopers are so precise." :D

Shields, force fields, transporters what exactly about star wars technology is so much better? Oh no here comes a jedi, oops look he is outside the ship now, wave goodbye :)
If a Jedi's dumb enough to be standing on the transporter pad and someone manages to hit the button, yeah he's screwed. As to what technology Star Wars has? They got the shields and force fields, as well as cloaking abilities, so it's a draw there. But I got two words that push the edge towards the Wars...Death. Star.
