Star Wars wins for three reasons

It's WAY older : "Long ago, in a galaxy far far away"
The Force pwns Reversing the Tachyon Flow.
Jar Jar is nothing compared to Neelix.

Sir Alec Guinness vs. Patrick Stewart? No score draw.

Trek gains a point for "The Trouble with Tribbles", especially Dax in a short skirt.
Star Wars loses a point for The Christmas Special.

2-1 on aggregate.

Eh? Why the hell are people saying that tech in 'wars is more advanced that it is in 'trek? Trekkies have universal constructors instead of microwaves for chrisakes! 'wars doesn't even HAVE that technology, they still have to MINE all their raw materials. Trekkies could outfit every person on a starship with lightsaber-proof armor in a matter of minutes!

Don't even get me started on creative uses for transporters (another ridiculously powerful tech that is conspicuously absent from Starwars).

Star Wars is the greatest thing that ever happened to anything! It's just awesome! I have never got into Star Trek, I don't know why, it just doesn't appeal. The reason I think is simply Jedi.
I want to be a Jedi...

Because Wars had that level of tech a millenia ago. Trek still doesn't have cloning.

Teleporters are like toys against the might of the Dark Side.

If we assume that SW's "lasers" are equivalent to ST's "phasers"
Phasers are actually above lasers. Some ST episodes have mentioned races who have ships having laser based weaponry which wouldn't even penetrate a ships navigational shields.

its just two different systems so its hard to compare really.

saying that what I don't like about Star Wars is why the Empire ships are so badly designed. The star destroyers have a blatant weak spot which you would have thought future designs would have sorted out.

And yet in in the Imperial era which people seem to be basing this comparison, they don't exist.

Once the shields go down transporters can drop boarding teams or very large explosive devices anywhere in the ship at the push of a button. One tac-nuke (or equivalent) to the bridge and ANY Imperial is out of the fight.

Might of the dark side, blah blah. Why spend years learning to shoot lightning from your fingertips when even compact pistol size weapons can vaporise someone? Those force abilities are very powerful in adventure type scenarios but would be meaningless in a war.

Tell you what then, I'll send millions of Cloned Stromtroopers in a Super Star Destroyer.

Trek will always be crippled by the Prime Directive. And in a space battle, Wars wins. Why? Because Trek simply doesn't have the Armada's that the Empire alone can bring.

Back it up with the Death Star and the Rebel's and even the Borg Home World can't cope.

As for the Force, it's like having Psionics on every ship. We already know where you're attacking from and those deflectors are staying up, so your puny 'porters can't do smeg. Not until we take that information from you.
Wars has mastered cloning, borging, robotics well beyond Data's puny level and those Force abilities work very well when one torpedo strikes exactly the right part of the Enterprise.

With a thought Q could make the Force go away.
Given that Q is also a living thing, you'd think that would have fairly dire consequences for him.

That said, Q is bullshit. Don't bring that in here.

All the borg would have to do is capture one empire ship and they'd have most of the information to counter it

as for the force. it doesn't really help when capital ships are fighting. it doesn't control torpedoes, just makes you be more accurate when firing. 'We already know where you're attacking from' - star wars still have sensors like every other space system.

well depending on what type of lasers a star destroyer had, the only threat the enterprise would face would be kamakaze style tie fighters slamming into it

the lasers would pose no threat to the enterprise and the enterprises photon torpedoes would rip apart a star destroyer. there is one or two episodes of star trek:tng where they mention lasers are not a threat to the shields, i do belive they said the wouldn't even need full shields just the inertial ones.

so the only way a star destroyer would beat the enterprise is if the tie fighters crashed into the enterprise
