I was wondering if there are any who could explain to me exactly WHY people are still playing MW2?

I quit a long time ago because it was just a bunch of the same stuff i had been through with MW1, and I just dont find the time to kill all those campers and listen to those screamy kids (This is not without exeptions though).

So tell me, Are you still playing MW2 or are you playing some other, better game?
Modern Warfare 2 is actually a great game, best single-player i have played in a long time, massively fun Spec-Ops and an exhilarating multi-player.

I think people might be too harsh on the MP, sure there are a few instances of camping, but really, what multi-player DOESN'T have camping. Also, Spawn Camping in MW2 is a myth, seriously, the gameplay is so fast and there are sooooo many spawn points that spawn camping is a largely futile practice in MW2 because you could get more kills by running around trying to knife people blindly than wait 10 minutes for a player to pop in the spawn point.

edit: Also, am i the only one actually glad that IW decided to not use dedicated servers? im down 50k points in BC2 because of dedicated servers.

I take off my head-set, and just play the game. I find if I don't take it too seriously, the screamers (Who are easily mutable), and the poor spawning mechanics don't bother me. Sometimes I'm first, sometimes I'm last, but I don't care.

And if you don't care, it's a lot more fun.
tried that i still got severly pissed off at the aount of times i get sprayed/camped/noobtoobed on that game that prevents me from having any fun on it, and i started playib battlefield bad company 2 and discovered: after 3 weeks of it being released most of the dicks on cod went onto BC2 :/

Yes, and I will never stop. Not till MW3 at least. All the "pros" are getting sick of the game, so they are leaving. So all that is left is me and the idiots, and the idiots will not get any more annoying than they are now. I love the game, and I just got money to buy the DLC. I am a happy little boy right now.

Someone just needs to explain "WHY" they do it, what makes that game so much better than any other game?

I hate this game with a burning passion, but all my friends play it so i try to balance an hour of this with a few hours of a good game like Bad Company 2 or Rainbow Six

Yes, you are definitely the only one, since I cannot see a single good reason why someone (other then Infinity Ward) would want dedicated servers removed. If nothing else, they are an option for players.

And I never played Modern Warfare 2. The removal of dedicated servers and mod support was too much for me and I refuse to even pirate the game.

I think this is as far as it goes with the thread, and I am pleased to achknowledge that "YEs, people are gradually refraining from playing MW2" because of the poll statistics.

I absolutely would be playing the living hell out of it right now, but my house has a high-security router for the home-business, and the NAT setting is stuck at Strict; this means that I have to wait, on average, 30 minutes to find a game of any type. A hell of a lot of lobby time. No thanks.

Yeah I'm still playing it although I almost always only play search now. Its a lot more tense (and fun) plus I was getting sick of the knifers and noob-tube / scavenger people you get a lot in TDM. For some reason people don't do that in search nearly as much.

Yeah I still play it. I still managed to drop a nuke or two if I run into a good, fair lobby. Every now and then though I have to switch to Battlefield Bad Company 2 but it doesn't give me the same variety that Modern Warfare does. In fact I have already found glitches and problems in that game, albeit they aren't as prevalent as in MW2. But yeah I still play Modern just about everyday...

...wish more of my friends did though. The pubs get slightly (Understatement of the year) annoying.

I brought MW2 to gamestop the day BC2 came out and traded in.

Love it. Played for 3d 14h or around that much so far, and haven't gotten any better. Highest streak is 11, it frustrates the hell out of me sometimes, but I still find it enjoyable.

TSo, its either deal the the horror of a game that is MW2, or beat GTA IV.....again....
I'm not, and for precisely this reason - TBoGT.

Just got it, whoa boy, I'm probably not going to see my family for a while.
Weird... I hated the Ballad of Gay Tony.

The antiquated mechanics pissed me off so much, and when it got to that goddamn motherfucking un-controllable helicopter mission I said 'fuck you, GTA' and never went back.

The game was never any good to begin with, i felt a huge dissapointment when playing it, why is that? MW1 was a masterpiece and then MW2 comes along and tosses out everything that made MW1 good, that is to say, the game would have been better if it was diffrent, MW2 had a "mainstream" feel to it. That's why i dont get why people still play it.

yeah i agree i do exactly the same, or i just get a few friends together and partake in a private game, much more chilled out and fun, i recommend people getting a few people together and having private games, its a much better way to have a laugh

I'm still all over it, absolutely love it! It's a competitive game and I'm a competitive person. I don't really know about all the screamers though? I play on PC and PS3. On PS3 maybe one in every 50 games has little kids yelling (mute=solved) and on PC I think I've heard people with mics maybe once or twice - and they were just talking. I assume this is mainly a 360 thing?

That's exactly why everyone plays it.. because it's mainstream. Mainstream = popular, popular = millions of players

Yes. Rank 23, second prestige, and I love it. Others hold different opinions, and present valid negative aspects of it. Despite these, I find it extremely fun. That is my absolute test of a game, and it passes.
