I wasn't talking to or remarking on everyone.Sewer Rat said:Look buddy, while I agree that some people are mopey for the sake of it, a lot of people do have real issues with their lives. You don't know what a lot of people are going through so before you tell them to 'shut up and be happy!' try to empathize a little and consider that possibly they are going through something unpleasant. For example, I recently had a falling out with an ex-girlfriend with whom I was trying to stay friends, and for a while, I was bloody miserable. I tried putting on a strong face, what with the holidays and all that going on, but even then people knew something was up with me. It has gotten easier but it still hurts, at some times more than others. So before you say "Quitcherbitchin!" try to consider what they may be going through.
That being said though, I can be a bit of a pessimist at the best of times, but typically I turn it into a dark and somewhat biting sense of humor rather than just mindless complaining. This doesn't appeal to everybody of course, as people seem to either get my sense of humor and love me for it or not get it and think I'm an asshole, but I'm not aiming to please everyone.
But I digress, Books I like:
I absolutely adore Yahtzee's book Mogworld. The humor is great and the characters were really well fleshed out (which is a little ironic, since quite a few of them were zombies).
I'd just grown really tired of all the dismal pseudo-philosophy I'd been hearing on these boards. I'm not going to go around and tell people that they're personal problems aren't valid, I just thought we needed a contrary voice to all the negativity and self-hatred I was seeing.
Something saying that it's GOOD to be human and eat food, and have sex, and do drugs, and read books. I lump those activities together sometimes...
I guess I read Steppenwolf a little too hard...
Still, this an indictment of everyone, just another way of looking at some things.
