Yet another ingrowing toenail here. Got all horrible and infected and hurt like hell. Probably didn't help that two days after the operation I went out and played football. I did manage to score though even with a gamy foot.

I had an operation when I was very very young, but obviously I don't remember it. Apparently I had too few blood platelets, which caused me to bruise incredibly easily, and I basically wouldn't heal any cuts. As a result, however, I still bruise like a peach, but it's a medical thing :p

Anyone else got interesting stories on why they had to get surgery? Or even if they had surgery?
I don't know if you'll find it interesting but I've had four for stuff that looked harmless enough that turned out to be tumors though they had very low chance of being cancerous but still, I got radiated and stuff (very light, mind you).

Gotta love socialized medicine. I'm glad my dad pays his taxes.

Yeah, someone else who has had an ingrown toenail. I didn't have to go to the hospital though. I went to my foot doctor (forgot technical term) and he just numbed it up, digged in there with his pliers, and cut it out. I had that done SEVERAL TIMES.

The correct term is 'podiatrist.'

....I'd hate to have an ingrown toenail- sounds quite painful.....

Just recently I had an operation to correct my 'Meckel's Diverticulum'.

Essentially, it's a small birth defect that only 2% of the population has, and less then that have the complications I had with it. So, technically, you could have it right now and have no idea.

The complications were really fun...if you count fun as bleeding internally, passing out from lack of blood, and having to crawl your way to the phone to call 911 so you could goto the hospital and have 4 units of blood.

Yeah, not fun in the typical sense. Although the passing out from loss of blood felt REALLY weird.

But I'm all fixed now! Woohoo!

Just looked that up.....Wow.
Yeah man. It's Cah-ray-zee.

If you ever start bleeding out your ass and they can't figure it out, now you know what to look for.

Oh, it is. Every time you put a little pressure on your toe, it feels like someone stabs it. It's just that bad.

Well, I've had only 2 surgeries.
One was when both my nose and my cheekbone were broken. The only complication with that was that i got conscious during surgery. I could see all the doctors around me but I couldn't move.

The other was when i broke my kneebone in 2. That didn't hurt at all, and has never really mended. I got lucky on that one since most of the time that bone shatters, but i had a clean break.

The most painful experience i had in a hospital however was when they had to make x-rays of my left thigh because i ripped a muscle. This hurt like **** because i had to lie on the muscle itself to have the x-ray taken.
