I just contracted it yesterday.. and other then a bitching head ache, fever, non stop snot, and a come and go sore throat, it's not too bad.

Just enough to make you bed ridden for a day or so.

I still have it so if you have anything useful to combat lemme know. I know water and rest but if there's some vitamins or fruit/vegetables that I HAVE to have just lemme know.

Thanks

*coughs blood* O_O
I trust you've already read the above post about the chicken soup? Other than that just take ibuprofen to keep your fever down, keep a loaded gun at your bed side, and drink plenty of juices.

Take care now honey child!

You fool! The governemtn is obviously controling your thoughts!

(mutters something about the dolphins)

But really, don't let that stop you form voting what you want to. The answers are really just yes, and no. The extra in the options is just for comedic effect.

Neither of the choices, the Heini flu as I call it, since the Hindus were offended that Americans referred to it as the swine flu, we have to now label it as the H1N1 virus, or be labeled as racists. The Swine flu, sorry, H1N1 virus, is a lesser form of the flu; LESSER. What is going on as of now is a little phrase known as FEAR MONGERING. Or Fear Tactics, whichever you prefer.

Just a short thread/question. Based on what you know, do you think that swine flu is really something to be worried about? I've heard from a couple of people that it isn't very different that the better-known flu. I've had swine flu, and while it wasn't "fun" it wasn't really all that bad. I just think it propaganda, and is meant to scare people. I think it's just a scam like global-warming, and is meant to be profited from.

So what do you, the escapists, have to say about it?
Of course its something to be worried about, if you have any respiratory problems/immune deficiencies. But that is just like any other disease/sickness. If you have asthma and get the swine flu, its going to hit you very hard. The chances of death are increased dramatically. Don't be so naive as to call it a "scam" or something. It exists. It has killed.
I don't want to sound cold, but it hasn't killed THAT many...

And I do have pretty bad asthma, so it put me up for about 2 weeks. So I'm not ocntesting it's very existence, I'm just saying it nothing to worry too much about. And it can be profited from, and thats why people will use it to scare you.

It's overly hyped. People hear the word 'pandemic' and panic because they don't understand the true meaning. Sure, you should take precautions- wash your hands, sneeze into your elbow, etc.- but those are things you should be doing all the time to keep healthy.

It's called overexaggeration for comedic affect, like what the media is doing with swine flu but for ratings.
Tank you!

This guy gets it! Honestly, I'm amazed at how many heads that joke has flown over...

I feel that its a problem but not a giant one that there saying. First off your poll is biased as hell and you really need to put some effort into it.

Anyway, i find it a problem since catching the flu is never all that fun, but i really dought its going to kill me unless im already dieing from a pre excisting condition that i don't have.
Just read the whole damn thread before posting your opinion. I can't believe that the poll went right over so many people's heads.

And grow a sense of humor too, you'll find the world a nicer place with one.
I did read the post you dumbass, I guess I can't really prove it without you calling bullshit but you dont know either so it will be a little question nagging at the back of your head for the rest of you life.

So don't insult me just because I posted my opinion. And I have a sence of humor, probably one better than yours since you fliped on me.

And if you didnt notice i posted more than saying your poll is shit, so why dont you read that now.

Oh dear lord.. It's just like the regular fucking flu. Sit down, have a glass of hot tea with honey in it, watch some cartoons, and you'll be fine...

To be honest I thought the Swine Flu was old news, and yet people are still crapping their pants about it.

Also, you're poll is ridiculous.. It goes from one extreme to the other. From pathogenically paranoid, to conspiracy theorist.

I think you all know where I stand on this subject...
VanityGirl said:
It should have been just yes or no all that other stuff is stupid.

I'd say no. It's just another flu outbreak. My college and other colleges have been on high alert though. Since we live in dorms, flus spread quickly, thats the only reason they worry.
Cmon guys...grow a sense of humor, yes the answers to the poll are just either extreme, and it's there for comical effect. Try not to be so sensetive to it.

Although I am at this point regreting adding the third option to the poll. Last I checked it was actually leading in votes.

The only problem I see is young children and old people getting it and getting really sick, but since I don't know many of either, I don't care.
Old people over 50 might not be affected due to a similar flu out back then

You didn't happen to play Pandemic II by any chance?

Swine Flu is just like the regular flu for the moment, but they fear it can evolve into a more potent and deadly virus if it mixes and evolves with another virus. The speed of the spread is why the WHO (World Health Organisation) listed it as a pandemic.
Hate that goddamn island.

Why yes.
Yes I have.
Anyway, I'm not terribly concerned about Swine Flu.
Ah! Great game. I would like to thank you both for agreeing with me contributing to the thread.

You will both be receiving a cookie, as soon as I learn how to post images...

It is pandemic. That's something to worry about if it becomes more potent.
Then what is the regular strain of influenza, hyperpandemic? Omnipandemic since pretty much everybody catches it in their lifetime? World-endingly ChuckNorrisPandemic? There are more deaths from the regular flu, they just go unreported. The same tactic is used in war reporting, people were convinced Vietnam had the biggest death toll ever, because every day the news would report the number of casualties, whereas in WW2 they didn't do that. All early deaths are horrible but even more so when exploited for political gain or fearmongering.
There are many different strains of flu. There's no one such flu as 'regular' flu. Most influenzas don't reach pandemic status.
The difference with this single strand is that it has gone world wide over a matter of a couple of months. Also as I've said before this isnt the first time that the world has seen this strand of N1H1. It did major damage not forgotten by history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu They are worried that the strand is going to mutate while it is being passed from person to person. THAT is the fear, not what is going around right now, not if in its form now it hits but if it changes to a more harmful version.

Oh yes, I can tell you must be a real barrel of laughs.

ANd I did read all of your posts, and right now I really am hoping you have a condition to die form.

And I doubt you don't have a better sense of humor...than anyone, it really does get tiring having to stop every couple of seconds to do the retard-roundup, and set the record straight for all of the whiners who just HAVE to it politically correct.

And about the niggling question in the back of my mind about...whatever it is that you were saying that I lost interest in, I'll try not to lose too much sleep over it.

The only good that came out of it was a few school closings, and the worst that came out of it was like 20 deaths. A life (or 20) isn't to be taken lightly, but they made up such a huge deal about a global pandemic that would kill us all, it's a bit silly to see people panic over something that can be cured by two days in bed and a bowl of chicken soup.
It actually put me out of it for nearly 2 weeks. But I guess it effects people of different health differently.
But the chicken soup helped, right?
Oh yes, immensely. And thats why people are overreacting @.@
Ah. Good. I'm glad you're happy.
Well thanks, it's refreshing to see someone actually rooting for my happiness.
