I think that the wars helped A LOT. It's easier to get infected in a hospital where hundreds of wounded or dying people are lying around. Also, funny thing about the wounds - they are like small door for the diseases to come and stay for a while.AnGeL.SLayer said:Umm, Do you guys recall the Spanish flu in history? Its the same strain, N1H1. The problem is that with the abilty to spread so easily it means that it could easily mutate or pick up another protein that could make it even more fatal. With the spanish flu it started out EXACTLY like this. Came in the spring, well thats clearly odd for a flu...Then around flu season it hit people like a ton of bricks. Competely healthy adults where dropping in the street after getting the virus only hours earlier. We are learning about it in my microbiology class. The threat is there, we just need to see if the virus is going to take its chance to become something more.
^_^
Then what is the regular strain of influenza, hyperpandemic? Omnipandemic since pretty much everybody catches it in their lifetime? World-endingly ChuckNorrisPandemic? There are more deaths from the regular flu, they just go unreported. The same tactic is used in war reporting, people were convinced Vietnam had the biggest death toll ever, because every day the news would report the number of casualties, whereas in WW2 they didn't do that. All early deaths are horrible but even more so when exploited for political gain or fearmongering.Lukeje said:It is pandemic. That's something to worry about if it becomes more potent.
There are many different strains of flu. There's no one such flu as 'regular' flu. Most influenzas don't reach pandemic status.Nieroshai said:Then what is the regular strain of influenza, hyperpandemic? Omnipandemic since pretty much everybody catches it in their lifetime? Ah. Good. I'm glad you're happy.ExaltedK9 said:Oh yes, immensely. And thats why people are overreacting @.@ucciolord1 said:But the chicken soup helped, right?ExaltedK9 said:It actually put me out of it for nearly 2 weeks. But I guess it effects people of different health differently.ucciolord1 said:The only good that came out of it was a few school closings, and the worst that came out of it was like 20 deaths. A life (or 20) isn't to be taken lightly, but they made up such a huge deal about a global pandemic that would kill us all, it's a bit silly to see people panic over something that can be cured by two days in bed and a bowl of chicken soup.
Well thats an actual discussion (one that isn't directly geared to swine flu, I might add) and this thread only poses a question.Kenjitsuka said:I liked the first thread better

And no, I don't care about the flu, bovine, avian or otherwise.
Again....please people, start reading the whole thread. Either answer is only taken to either far extreme for comical effect. (and the gov. is trying to take our guns!)The Austin said:I'm not going to anwer the poll, because the Govt. is not trying to take our guns away, but Swin flu can suck it. Im not afraid of it.
Just read the whole damn thread before posting your opinion. I can't believe that the poll went right over so many people's heads.Supreme Unleaded said:I feel that its a problem but not a giant one that there saying. First off your poll is biased as hell and you really need to put some effort into it.
Anyway, i find it a problem since catching the flu is never all that fun, but i really dought its going to kill me unless im already dieing from a pre excisting condition that i don't have.
