I feel that its a problem but not a giant one that there saying. First off your poll is biased as hell and you really need to put some effort into it.

Anyway, i find it a problem since catching the flu is never all that fun, but i really dought its going to kill me unless im already dieing from a pre excisting condition that i don't have.

Swine flu is just another thing people are getting worked up stupidly about. If the media didn't say so much about it people would realise that most people will just get over it. The only people generally at risk are the seriously ill, elderly or the really young, so basically if you have some sort of fully working immune system you should be fine. The normal Flu is more deadly than Swine flu, Swine flu is just extremely contagious. Granted, if it was to mutate we'd maybe have a problem, but I doubt that'll happen any time soon. I heard from someone in college today that it's the world governments setting up another massive illness so that they can cut down the population in China to lessen the amount of food the country needs. I then laughed at him for being stupid.

I just contracted it yesterday.. and other then a bitching head ache, fever, non stop snot, and a come and go sore throat, it's not too bad.

Just enough to make you bed ridden for a day or so.

I still have it so if you have anything useful to combat lemme know. I know water and rest but if there's some vitamins or fruit/vegetables that I HAVE to have just lemme know.

Thanks

*coughs blood* O_O

I think they might be getting worked up because swine flu killed tens of millions of people during the last pandemic. There was a war on though so the soldiers who weren't suffering too badly stayed put in the trenches or the camps and the soldiers who were really ill were sent to hospital or home so the more virulent, aggressive strains were spread around and the milder ones weren't whereas the opposite happens these days; if you feel really sick, you stay put but i you've just got a bit of a sniffle, you carry on about your business.

We're also better informed about it now than they were then. We know what precautions to take and what to do if we do get sick.

It's not plague people make it out to be but it could become serious if people don't take it seriously enough.

I've failed to contract it thus far, despite spending several months licking sick people.

I just don't like the idea of being injected with a virus I don't have to combat a virus I don't have.

Just a short thread/question. Based on what you know, do you think that swine flu is really something to be worried about? I've heard from a couple of people that it isn't very different that the better-known flu. I've had swine flu, and while it wasn't "fun" it wasn't really all that bad. I just think it propaganda, and is meant to scare people. I think it's just a scam like global-warming, and is meant to be profited from.

So what do you, the escapists, have to say about it?
Of course its something to be worried about, if you have any respiratory problems/immune deficiencies. But that is just like any other disease/sickness. If you have asthma and get the swine flu, its going to hit you very hard. The chances of death are increased dramatically. Don't be so naive as to call it a "scam" or something. It exists. It has killed.

I think its a waste of time and thought, but I don't think it's a Government conspiracy. I also know what it is. So yeah. More options.

I heard that if a strain of it adapted would be extremely deadly. *Shrug* I just heard it, if not, it's really just stupid.

It a disease that's a bit more dangerous then the normal flu, it could have been devastating (Spanish Flu anyone?), but a bit of rudimentary protection and precaution limits the cases, and puts the death toll at a fraction of the normal, seasonal flu. It grabs attention, because its easy to imagine it being devastating. But we have to remember that it was not, and it will not be. All is how it should be: Potential threat, the world freaks out a bit, errs on the side of caution, and because of that we are perfectly safe. Neither the people crying conspiracy hype, nor the doomsayers are correct.

It's called overexaggeration for comedic affect, like what the media is doing with swine flu but for ratings.

I'm not worried about swine flu. Know why? I'm not a pussy and I don't buy into all this scaremongering bullshit. Dry your eyes guys.

Down here in Australia no one really cared. Apparently or regular flu is far worse than the swine flu was (and I was told this by people who got Swine flu).

Swine Flu kills less people than the regular flu. People are overreacting.
Thank you! Too few people seem to realize this.

If I get it, im going to get a job at a grocery store and sneeze on EVERYTHING.

I also love how the media seemed to shutup about it for like....a few weeks or so. Then it came back in a huge blazing entry, and now people on the news wont shut the hell up about it. I swear they did it on purpose just so they could get some extra, useless material that sounds legitimate.

...well, none of your poll options really fit me. My response would be, yes, swine flu is technically a pandemic. That means it is a bit of a big deal. Any disease that is a pandemic needs to be dealt with. However, it is far from likely that you will die of swine flu. In fact, if you do die from it and you weren't already sick with some other horribly debilitating disease, then you are just one unlucky bastard.

Really though, it's no more dangerous than the flu. It's not that it isn't a problem, because any major illness is, but it's just not nearly as big of one as it is made out to be.

it's certainly not as bad as we've been led to believe. It's a lesser version of the flu for which there is no vaccine yet. That's it.

My school (as I'm sure most colleges did) went absolutely swine flu nuts, putting up little hand sanitizer dispensers all over the campus... now here's why that makes no sense whatsoever, swine flu is a virus, and hand sanitizer is anti-bacterial. Hmmmmm.

Regardless, I currently have the flu (not wimpy swine flu, real flu) and it suuuucks. But I'm not going to die.
