Bioware needs to make a decision here. Making the player choose is a bad option in my opinion.

Even if the player can decide, and never wants to see Tali's face, they are going to see it no matter what. This is the day of the internet and nothing is secret forever.

On this basis, I feel like they shouldn't show her face. Mystery's lose all appeal once you explain them.
The absence of a face isn't a mystery. It's just absence of design on the developers part. From all I've seen from their special developmental diaries there isn't as much as a sketch of a quarian face. Lazy. The initial design point was 'a faceless bipedal reverse knee immunodeficient Polish alien'

To be honest, I really don't care if they do or don't reveal what they look like, just as long as they don't do it in a really crappy way. On the post I saw earlier about the comments people are making, one said something like 'as long as it isn't some silly death scene'.

Can't say I really care. I was never particularly fond of Tali, or the whole Quarian race, for that matter. If BW wants to reveal their faces it's up to them.

Do not want. At all.

The chances a random alien race is attractive by human standards? Almost zero.
My Shep seemed to like what she looked like under that mask...

Yes, but it should be a part of her romance plot, so that the people who don't want to see her don't have to.
Tali is my romance-my ONLY romance for Male Shep, and I don't wanna see her face. EVER. I like the mystery far too much.
Then close your eyes. I choose to know the truth, not sit in wonder because I might not like it.

It should be an option in the game but not one that you have to make to progress the relationship. I personally want to see her face just out of sheer curiosity but i can understand why some people don't.

We should have both options.

Well, I used to be on the no side, but after thinking it through I must agree with the people who say yes but... It would be a good option, as many have suggested here, that comes with her romance subplot. As was said before, that way if you don't want to see her face you don't have to. Although, if they DO show it and I don't want to see it, I'll probably wind up seeing it later, through memes or someother online fashion. So changed my mind again, just put me in the "Hell if I know" column.

A very strong no.

And an even stronger NO NO NO to all you people who think the quarians should be revealed, but not Tali. What the fuck? Why would you want that? That's the dumbest compromise ever. It ruins the mystery of how the race looks, destroying all your personal imaginings, without actually revealing the only one you care about seeing. It pisses off everybody and pleasing no one.
Completely agreed

I say yes. But only if you are romancing Tali.

It kind of sucks to be Bioware in this situation. No matter what they do with Tali, people are going to be angry.

Yes. Obviously. Not revealing her face to us is just a lazy move on Bioware's part
I wouldn't say its lazy just leaves a little more to the imagination it would be nice to see but if they not going to do it well would you rather they not did it at all ?

welp, I like Tali because I find her charming and intelligent, the sort of individual that I myself wouldn't mind hanging around with or getting to know more intimately. So by saying this, I mean that her having a mask over her face isn't really the reason that I chose to get to know her. I wasn't really disappointed with not getting to see her face in ME2 because that's not the main reason that I selected her as a romantic partner.

I think that they should show her face, because personally, I'm not a particularly weak individual who can't handle dashed expectations, even if my expectations are relatively low to begin with. I know that whatever face they choose to use, I'm going to say that it's too human. Weird freaky alien face doesn't bother me, because after all, aren't we supposed to embrace the idea that it's the personality that matters? That's why it won't really bother me in the long run if her face is practically human, either.

At this point in the game, whatever BioWare chooses to do with their own intellectual property is at their discretion and will leave the same number of people disappointed in the end. So for every person that says "I'm glad that they didn't show her face so my expectations get didn't get dashed," someone will feel gypped that they were never given the opportunity to and in turn have their own expectations dashed.. The same goes for if they choose to show her face.

My vote goes to yes, show it.

EDIT:

This statement is brilliant. I agree with it completely.

No. If they will reveal her face in ME3, this will be the last Bioware game Ive bought.

No. It's better to have everyone imagine what she looks like. For instance, do you want Christopher Nolan to explain whether or not the top falls at the end of Inception? Nothing can live up to the expectations of what we can visualize.

It is lazy. Why do I have to use my imagination to come up with a face for a character I don't even own? One of Bioware's designers just have to put pen to paper and finish the job - which they are already paid for.

I think not. Specialy if Bioware has no clue. It'll feel like ok, so you wanted this and... well here's what we popped out.
I like to use the vader example, Darth Motherfucking Vader. I don't think they should have showed him, because funily enough, when the emperor is about to kill Luke, you can "see" the compasion in his eyes because action speaks better than looks.
So yeah, appart from the fact they don't know what she looks like, I would like to keep Tali a mystery.

I'd rather have Sheperd get an enviroment suit like the Quarians and slowly sacrifise his immune system just so he and Tali can be together. I would hate to see what the Quarians look like, it's far too soon for such a drastic change. Tali's mask is one of the key attractions to her character and the continual focus on the women behind the mask, it also acts as a tool to focus more on her personality rather than her appearance. It's one of the most compelling things about Tali as a character and her romance with Sheperd dont change it.

I thought the very idea of including a race that you don't know the look of introduces an amount of mystery in that they can be whatever you want them to look like. If they reveal what she looks like, they will never be able to please everyone (see: Doomsday Arcade Finale).

Anyway, you can't really rag on Quarian's being able to take minigun fire to the face and not have a scratch. Because then you would have to rag on every character of ever game of every series of every genre ever that could take a shot to the face with or without a helmet and still survive. Realism was never and is never, an acceptable idea in a game as then every conceivable outcome to every shot in a game would need a realistic outcome. Operation Flashpoint showed that an FPS that close to being real isn't fun, that's why you can pick up a health kit and stick it to yourself, hide in a corner and wait for your health to regenerate or carry multiple guns and ammo that you could never hope to fit in all the spaces of your armour unless you had Time Lord pockets.
You're missing the point. The reason it was acceptable that we never saw a Quarian's face in the first game is becuase we were never in situations where you would. However, Mass Effect 2 throws you into tons of different places with Quarians and having not a single one of them have visible damage to their suits when they say their suits are damaged is pretty dumb.

I don't think you understand how immune systems work.

EDIT: Also the entire "mystery" of the Quarian's is stupid, becuase there is no mystery in the game itself. We know everything about the Quarian's except what they look like. The character in the game know that so there is nothing mysterious about them at all. There just a bunch of space gypsies with bucket heads after all.

It isn't that they don't know what to draw her like, it's that they don't know if they want to reveal her and ruin the mystery that the Quarians hold.

A very strong YES. She is my romantic choice, so at the very least, allow those who choose that option to see her face.
