I want to get a tattoo of a personal symbol I use on my right arm somewhere. Possibly a Lambda symbol also elsewhere, just because of the amount of time I've played it and the love I have for it. Will wait until after EP3 comes out though first for it, just in case.

I have Rogue (cartoon version) on my calf, flowers on my other calf, an Egyptian Ankh and a treble clef on either side of my chest, "T" on my lower back and the Japanese demon Hannya on my shoulder blade. I plan on getting a dragon down my ribs and partly across my back too. I don't regret a single one of them.
DON'T DO THE RIBS! The people I've talked who were stupid enough to do that, said it was the most painful thing they have experienced. One of them was an artist also.

I don't have one as of right now, but I do plan on getting one someday. I'm thinking of saving up and maybe getting one for my twenty-first birthday.

I have a tattoo and will be getting more.

The month before I turned 18 my mother threw a business card on the table and I looked at her and said "What this?" and she said "Read it". Picked up the card and it said "Red Dragon Tattoo" and our names as well as a date and time. I asked what it was about to which she replied "We're going to get tattooed".

I have a cool mom

yes, don't regret it in the slightest and it didn't hurt at all. In fact there is a broken line in it from the point I started to fall asleep and the needle slipped as I shifted in the chair in a even more relaxed position. Wasn't anything too bad, he fixed it so well one won't really notice unless it was pointed out.

Smug dragon bastard always makes me think he knows something he isn't telling me.

I have a lot of them, and will be getting more. My next one is going to be a maltese cross on the underarm on the inside of my bicep.

I got my first tattoo back at the start of February. I decided to go for an old school rose on my elbow and the tattoo artist was blown away at how stupid i was getting my first tattoo on my elbow, but i stuck it out and endured the worst 50 minutes of my life and i would happily do it all over again as i was extremely pleased with the outcome.

I think tattoos are gorgeous, and I fully intend to get one.

Though I have seen some pretty horrific ones, i.e., flaming unicorns and the like, I've been fortunate to see a friend of mine go through each of his, and each design is more inspirational than the last. I don't want to go through my short life not experiencing something like that.

I'm friends with an artist as well who's inked all over--his latest are Tibetan mantras! Have you ever seen their written language? It's like... gah, so lovely...

But, um, yeah. I can see how it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I am getting a tatoo of a film strip with each of my immediate family members initials in each cell to represent my job/passion in film and how close I am to my family. Would've had it done this weekend but ended up having to cancel my appointment cuz i got really bad sunburn on my back.

And to anyone thinking of getting one three BIG tips. 1. Don't get something just because it looks cool/was on the tattoo artists wall have it means something to you and have it be something you thought of yourself, even if you can't draw all reputable tattoo artists will do sketches of what they can do for you based on reference material.

2. Get some type of temporary tattoo such as henna of the permanent tattoo you want done a month before on the area you want the tattoo and look at it every day, if one day you think this isn't that good you probably won't like it in a few years from now and actually be stuck with it.

3.For the younger people think of possible career paths if you think you will ever have a job that involves with interacting with a lot of people inside or outside of the office such as retail anything get a tattoo that isn't visible when you wear a t-shirt/shorts because tattoos can be a dealbreaker sometimes in interviews and the last thing you want is to have lost a job you really need because of a tattoo.

Example, at the bar last weekend my buddy showed me his bad descision of a few weeks ago.

I got a really good kick out of that. When I showed my girlfriend after she cried with laughter for a good 5 minutes, her first comment was "The ears aren't suppose to be black!"

OT: I have my family crest on my right calf. Might get another but I haven't decided yet. Something to do with The Warrior.

That dragon one sounds actually kinda cool, what would it look like?

OT: I don't think I would ever get one myself, kind of a wimp in terms of pain and the fact is that tattoo will be on my body forever I better be damn sure that it's something I wanted to look at for the rest of my life.

I really love fawning over other peoples tattoos, piercings, bodys mods, etc etc. I'm not much for tats myself, but I considered getting angel wings (large) on my shoulder blades. :)

I don't have a real tattoo but I've currently got a Ying+Yang henna tattoo on my arm at the moment which I like. Although, I wouldn't get a real tattoo for fear of blood poisoning and I have a very low pain capacity.

I've heard the same thing. But I refuse to let pain stand in the way of the dragon I've wantd since forever! Plus, it's different for everyone; getting the two on my breasts hurt like buggery, so much so that my artist had to do make them thicker because I kept shaking and making the lines go wobbly haha. My mum, on the other hand, said she didn't notice anything when she got hers in the same place.

I have none, and not really considering getting one.

I'm not totally opposed to it, but it would have to conform to a huge set of standards, such as:

- no cliché themes. I tire of seeing tribal/dragons/tiger/memorials/portraits/koifish/fairies/etc all the time. Besides, i have no idea what i'll like in 5 years, let alone the rest of my life.

- view-ability. Some might look good up close, but look like indistinct blobs of color at a distance, so it would have to be fairly large, but still not look sloppy in close detail. Plus, there's the matter of color decay over time, so it would have to be with only black or with very saturated color, which are harder to pull off aesthetically.

- organic. The body is a very irregular canvas, and i never understood why most tattoos work against our shape (placing at the most regular surfaces, based solely on size and availability, etc) instead of working with them. A design specifically tailored to conform to our shapes sounds much more interesting.

So, if i eventually did something, it would have to be a one-shot design for large portions of my body, with large details, and perhaps small details up-close that don't mess up the larger picture, well outlined, and with strong and few colors (probably just black). Tricky, right? Perhaps something like the Guild Wars ritualists [http://eu.guildwars.com/gallery/view-wallpaper/139/]...

"No, but I'm not opposed to the idea" is my option. I've never found anything worthwhile I want on my body, but like I said, I'm open to it.

Because you won't regret that when you're 30 and married with kids.

I want a western dragon but in an anime style. Head peeking over my shoulder, tail wrapped most of the way round my waist, wings half unfurled across my back and ribs. This is the one I've always wanted, so I'm kind of wary about getting it. It'll take fuckloads of work and I haven't yet met an artist I'd trust enough. And I have no money whatsoever right now.

Oh that sounds quite nice actually. I take it the dragon is sorta "peeking" over your shoulder as it's tail and body are "wrapped" around your waist and ribs? Well best of luck finding someone to do it and getting the money for it.

I know this is slightly late but welcome to the Escapist! Just follow the rules, don't feed the trolls and ignore that body under the basement stairs and you'll have a great time here! :D
