Getting a Tattoo does not hurt. Also, if you are going to get a tattoo, don't get one just to have one, make sure it means something to you. If the tatto means something to you, then who cares what other people think.

Where be the option for "No but I'm getting one next week"?
Cause that would be the appropriate option for myself.

isn't that the manowar guy, or even the disturbed guy?

OT: I don't have any, and no plans, because tattooing a bass on my back seems like a bad idea anyway.

I have one and while it looks pretty bad at the moment due to bad aftercare, once I I get it patched up I am gonna start work on the rest of my body. For those wondering I have CFH (Cowboys from hell) done just under the back of my neck. I wanted a small one to start out with so I knew what to expect for the rest of my body. Needless to say I am really glad I made my mistakes with something so small comparatively hidden. I would be the retard who gets a tattoo in the one place he can't reach properly wouldn't I.

As for tattoo's in general I love them, and is one of the greatest ways to so artist expression/love for something. Ironic tats do nothing for me though, it has to be something meaningful to me, or else it just has to look ridiculously awesome. If it doesn't fulfill wither of those, then its a bad tat in my opinion. I have my arms and some of my legs already completely though out and I have for about 2/3 years. Only thing stopping me getting them is money.

I've already done a lot of searching for what I would want as a tattoo. It's got to be something that means a lot to me as a person. Not just something cool now. It has to be meaningful through the rest of my life because I'm going to have it that long.

Just one. Big family crest on a shield with a longsword behind it, covers most of my back (sry, no pics on this computer, all at home). 7 hours under the needle in 2 sittings, and yes it does hurt a lot. Spent years thinking about and sketching designs before I decided on it, it wasn't a spur of the moment decision. And I love it, very glad I got it, but it will be my only tattoo.

Edit: OMG, I didn't look at the pic before I uploaded. Here is a less massive, out of focus one:

I'd love to get more, and will be getting a corresponding "engineering" tattoo on the other forearm when I graduate.
Will that be in inches or millimetres?

Tattoos are a bad idea for late teens and 20 somethings.
They're the ones who actually think the rest of the world is staring in awe at your tattoos, then you get older and realise nobody gives or ever gave a toss.

I got tattoo 5 years ago and don't regret it yet. (Not somewhere show offy. Only my girlfriend and closest friends know it's even there.)

Oh and yes... it hurts, but how much it hurts depends a lot on "where" you have the tattoo. I "believe" the lower spine is the most painful and the buttocks are the least. Forearms and things are supposed to be the middle ground. I had mine somewhere between "spine pain" and "arm pain" and it felt kind of like a knife cut, but not the "worst painz evar!" and it was considerably less than I expected.

Oh and they take freaking ages depending on size :) Mine took two hours and it was more "boring" than "painful" :)

I don't have one, I don't have anything against people who have them. I might get one, probably won't.

This is what I want to get as my first tattoo. Or something very similar.

I wouldn't mind having one myself, but I can't figure out what I would want for a tattoo. If it's gonna be permanent, may as well be sure to make it amazing.

I thought about getting one, but I'm not sure now. They don't really serve much of a purpose and I'm not sure that they'd suit me.
So for now, no and I don't plan on getting one.

I got addicted after my first one and now my arms are totally covered, and I'm working on connecting them across my back. Also got one across my stomach and a couple on my legs. I design all my own tats, and think about them for ages. Each one means something personal to me and I really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks of them.

Nobody who doesn't have a tattoo will ever understand how addictive they are :) After my first, it's been really hard to stop myself getting a second, or a third, or a seventeeth. It's a strange thing :)
