I got addicted after my first one and now my arms are totally covered, and I'm working on connecting them across my back. Also got one across my stomach and a couple on my legs. I design all my own tats, and think about them for ages. Each one means something personal to me and I really couldn't care less what anyone else thinks of them.
Nobody who doesn't have a tattoo will ever understand how addictive they are After my first, it's been really hard to stop myself getting a second, or a third, or a seventeeth. It's a strange thing
I don't have one, but I wouldn't be opposed to have 1 or 2 small tattoos on not too obvious places. I'm a proud nerd and a very proud gamer, and I'd love to express that. Now I would never get something as obvious and horrible as this:
The idea alone, o no, not ever.
I would however, get something more stylised like one of these:
If I'd ever go for a tattoo, I'd pick something that both reflects the most prominent part of my personality (my nerdiness) but is still stylised and good-looking for non-nerds. They might not get the origins of the tattoo's, but at least they're not horrible.
I wouldn't get any of those tats really big or on obvious places though. Small ones on my shoulders, shoulder blades or upper arm sound pretty good, maybe that N7 logo on my chest. I'd like to avoid anything easily visible (lower arms and hands, lower legs, head and neck) to avoid stigmatization.
Fat chance I'll never actually gét one of them, but I wouldn't be opposed to the idea.
i tattooed a heart and ribbon on my wrist when i was 17. i dont regret that (even though it has the initials of my now ex boyfriend on it).
however, i do regret a misshapen black blob i now have on my knuckle from that same time.... eh, i thought i was a good idea at the time?
Edit: OMG, I didn't look at the pic before I uploaded. Here is a less massive, out of focus one:
*snip picture out*
I'd love to get more, and will be getting a corresponding "engineering" tattoo on the other forearm when I graduate.
I have one tattoo one my left forearm; it's the comet symbol from Final Fantasy VII. I do regret it, in a way. It looks pretty naff and, to be honest, it was entirely spur-of-the-moment. I was a silly 16 year-old looking to get his first tatt, and just went with something I really shouldn't have done. Silly me.
Going to get my first PROPER tattoo this wednesday (blimey, that's tomorrow) - I'm going to get a " " on my inner wrist - a personal reminder to just fucking be happy.
I hate people who say "It's the worst pain Evvarrr!" They only say that so it makes them look cooler infront of people who don't have any. Does it hurt? yes, of course it does, but if it hurt loads then why would I have more than one?
Personally, I would not like to have one. It's not the pain of getting the tattoo that would bother me, but rather what would happen afterwords. Sure, a tattoo of a dragon or whatever looks OK when you're 18, but when you're 60 it's just going to look retarded. Also, although getting the tattoo placed on you isn't super painful, getting it taken off certainly is. (They use FUCKING LASERS!)
Getting my Gibson SG resting on a pair of skulls and on fire with a loopy scroll wrapped around it reading "Laughing on Judgement Day". And it's going to take up the whole of my left calf
The only time my tattoo hurt was over the vein on my inner wrist - lots and lots of blood. But tattoos don't really hurt that bad (and supposedly I got when in a mildly sensitive area). Next, I want a biohazard tramp stamp Because what guy doesn't want to see that while.... nevermind.
But tattoos are great, as long as you think it over and actually want it. Why do I care how they'll look when they're older? I'll be someone's mother! All the better to embarrass them!
Haven't got one, maybe if I get older than 40 and grow a beard, I'll have one.
My grandad has one on his forearm, it's of an electric pylon... he worked for some electronics company as mechanic and general tinkerer for about 40 years.
Sounds stupid, but it actually looks pretty damn cool.
This summer I'm sailing on this old ship from the war of 1812. I've done winter maintenance for two years on it but I can never sail because I have lacrosse. I've been planning on sailing since I first saw it in 2000. I guess it's such apart of my life that's why I would do it. However I'd like to actually sail before I get it.
I love all things nautical, that's why I would consider it.
While still undecided I have considered having some tattoo work done eventually. My ideas have varied over the years however two I am almost certain upon are a Sword (may go for double cross swords) and a shield likely on my back. Why? The sword(s) represent my passionate ambition, my confidence to achieve the goals I have aspired towards and ultimately that I have and can battle through any obstacle. The shield presents an unyielding resolve, that while in the face of numerous doubt from people, I continue to strife, disregarding their negative viewpoint and solidifying I can and will endure any hardship.
Perhaps corny to some extent however I rather fancy those meanings, in addition it provides further meaning to the tattoos beyond "it looks cool!" I may have others done thereafter however those two are the first. Admittedly less enthusiast about the pain as I have heard the back is not necessarily the ideal place pain wise.
