I think the earliest age you should be to have sex is 16. I live in New York where the age of consent is 18, but no one really follows that. I think in Utah you can be 13-14 to have sex. (not 100% on the state, but I know it's somewhere in the western half of the U.S.)

It depends on what state you live in but I don't think it's less than 16 or more than 18 in any of them.
Even though I passed that age many years ago, I still feel it should be lowered. Many many years ago, people were treated as adults after age 7. They had jobs and families by the time they were teenagers. They still did stupid shit a little more often than older people, but they were a HELL of a lot more responsible than those of the same age today.
It just goes to show you that when you treat someone like a child, they act like a child. Treat them like adults, they act like adults.

18, which is the average age of the high school graduate. Honestly, there's no real reason to have sex until after you at least get out of high school.

No seriously, I think 16 is sensible, but I say this knowing full well that it's not going to stop anyone. My official vote here was for "I don't have an opinion, I'm too busy eating crayons." As for age of consent in Canada, there seems to be some confusion here. It WAS 14 with a four year age allowance (14 year old can have sex with someone up to 18, 15 up to 19 etc.), but Harper raised it to 16. I don't know if the four year allowance still stands. As for the age of consent between two males, it's 18, which is a product of the same outdated logic that excludes gay males from donating blood in this country. Also, like the blood donor thing, it only applies to gay men and not gay women, which makes even less sense. I think there's been a motion to change this, but I doubt anything will happen while Fuckhead Harper is around. By the way, please feel free to correct me if any of this has changed since the last time I crawled out of the basement.

I can't help but get the impression that many of the votes for 14 and below and "there shouldn't be one" (a legal black hole I might point out) are probably pedos that are waiting with sweaty palms to get their hands on young chilrens without watching out for Johnny Law.
