Does anyone know if there's any sort of similar thing of the abuse and perversion of the law in other countries (besides the US I meant)?

In Italy, practically everything is allowed except a relationship (and even more so, sex) between an adult (18 or more) and an underage (below 18). Anal sex, homosexuality, all this is A-OK. If there is any other legislation on the matter, is never applied (but I doubt there is).

Stastically speaking more teenagers these days are waiting for marriage then having sex before hand.

It's still bullshit because 1) you're not saying in which country and which religious/social/ethnic group the stats were collected 2) many statistical studies are biased, even more so those that relate to religious/moral themes.

As for my experience (Italy), I've known only two girls that said they were waiting for marriage, and both had sex in like two months since having a new boyfriend. They both have strong religious beliefs (and so do their boyfriends).

Also, the idea that someone would have anal sex as a way to preserve their virginity... It's the single most stupid thing I've heard this month, and I've seen Transformers 2 last week.

actually go do some research into it and you'll easily find out that the claim of those stats are bullshit is really true. so maybe you should do some researching into the term Saddlebacking and things called a "technical virgin". you might learn a thing or two

No seriously, I think 16 is sensible, but I say this knowing full well that it's not going to stop anyone. My official vote here was for "I don't have an opinion, I'm too busy eating crayons." As for age of consent in Canada, there seems to be some confusion here. It WAS 14 with a four year age allowance (14 year old can have sex with someone up to 18, 15 up to 19 etc.), but Harper raised it to 16. I don't know if the four year allowance still stands. As for the age of consent between two males, it's 18, which is a product of the same outdated logic that excludes gay males from donating blood in this country. Also, like the blood donor thing, it only applies to gay men and not gay women, which makes even less sense. I think there's been a motion to change this, but I doubt anything will happen while Fuckhead Harper is around. By the way, please feel free to correct me if any of this has changed since the last time I crawled out of the basement.

Statistically speaking, gay men are at higher risk of having HIV and anal is a very transmissive sex act for HIV. Period. I've known gay men who've used blood donation as a "free bi-monthly STD test" and that's fucked up beyond belief. There is no right to blood donation, especially if you're a risk factor.

I'm sure there are hetrosexuals who use the service in the same way. You are right that anal sex is a great way to pass on HIV. Having said that the questionnaire to give blood doesn't ask me if I bum my girlfriend and it doesn't ask women if they take it in the ass. Thats discrimination.

You also have to consider that not all homosexual relationships involve "full" penetration. I read a study that said 40% of homosexuals have full sex. There are lots of other less risky ways to get off.

I once heard of a 13 year old girl getting pregnant, and everyone was disgusted by the very thought. I think the 16 limit is a good one, mainly because I am legal ^_^. And the thought of young children having sex with each other really is just gross.

Here in the UK it's 16.

I'm 14, I'm nearly 15 but have lost my virginity already (So has my girlfriend, obviously). Recently, my girlfriend's Step-mum had found out we'd had sex, so I had to go and apologise.

We now aren't allowed to be left alone; so effectively (Not even at school) are we allowed to be by ourselves.

I think this is rediculous as we both agreed to have sex and we both love each other. However, I am glad that the legal limit here isn't 18 as that is a bit too high a limit. I think that maybe we should get a system where 14 year olds can have sex legally with someone who is within 2 years of their age.

TLR - 18 too high, 16 unfair, 14 should be legal for those who are mature enough.

13-14. By age 8 girls should be learning about puberty, and age 10 boys will be learning the effects. By age 13 you should have reached your basic sexual changes and should have knowledge about sex.

I dont know what a good age is. I dont know that much about the difference between kids and maturity, I dont remember my younger siblings ages but they seem to be annoyingly immature, think theyr younger than 13 though. 12 maybe.

My mother was 17 when she had me, think i turned out alright .

Actually in the USA the age of consent varies from state to state depending on how old the person you are having sex with is, starting at 16. It's kind of weird here in WA state.

This isn't just about teenagers shagging other teenagers, guys. If you make the age of consent, say, 13, that means a 30 year old could legally have sex with a 13-year-old. And that is just not on. No way, no how.

Apart from that I'm not really sure what purpose the age of consent serves. When you're at the age of consent, sure you can have consentual sex with someone, but I severely doubt you have any inkling on the full ramifications of your actions. The same applies to alcohol consumption. When I was 18, in retrospect, I was a hormone-charged jackass who thought he knew everything but really knew nothing. I've just clocked over into my 30's and it's only now that I've got that life experience under my belt that I fully grasp the effects any of my actions take. There's been a few women I've fucked and "fucked over" and if I had the wisdom I have now when I was that age, I wouldn't have gone to bed with them. But I suppose that's what growing up is all about.
