Recently, my girlfriend's Step-mum had found out we'd had sex, so I had to go and apologise.
Apologies for what? Spoiling her daughter? Im well interested in how you worded that.
"I'm sorry, Leah, we only did it once* and it was an accident"

*We have had sex about 7 times really.

How do you 'accidentally' have sex? I mean, "it's not as if you tripped and fell into her...and out of her....and into her again".

18... generally speaking I believe that I am more mature and able to make educated decisions now (at the age of 18) than I was able to at, say, 16.

I'm sure there are hetrosexuals who use the service in the same way. You are right that anal sex is a great way to pass on HIV. Having said that the questionnaire to give blood doesn't ask me if I bum my girlfriend and it doesn't ask women if they take it in the ass. Thats discrimination.

You also have to consider that not all homosexual relationships involve "full" penetration. I read a study that said 40% of homosexuals have full sex. There are lots of other less risky ways to get off.

Please don't ask me for a source, I dont have it. Im going to start saving everything I read so I can quote the source on the escapist.
You don't have to quote the source; I believe you completely. Still, if you took that same sample group and found out how much of it had AIDS, it'd be much higher than the general population. Gay dudes are much more likely to have AIDS than non-gay dudes, period. If you're a risk factor, you don't have the right to put other people at risk without their knowledge and consent.

This is actually a really fucked up thing, but there are a lot of "AIDS educators" in the gay community who preach that it's really not that big a deal for an HIV-infected guy to lie to a twink about his infection status and bareback him because it's the twink's fault for agreeing to bareback; Savage Love even linked one of these douchebag "educators" who admitted that he regularly lies to guys in bars about his AIDS status and barebacks them.

Yeah, if you're a gay dude who only had one boyfriend ever who was also a virgin or you only do oral or any which what or the other thing: I'm sorry you can't give blood, but it's not fair to all the blood receivers in the world to give them AIDS that much more just because you want to feel good about yourself. If you think there should be additional questions like "Do you bareback it with random dudes?" then what's stopping guys from being "Oh well, that happened last month, but he said he was clean and seemed like a nice, trustworthy guy so it doesn't really count OR I did it with a condom so it doesn't really count (condom's don't make you AIDS-proof BTW)."

It's immensely fucked up to use a blood donation as an AIDS test because if you're in real need of an AIDS test, then you should GET A GODDAMN AIDS TEST. I donate blood regularly and have fucked around, but every time there's a remote chance that I may have caught it I get an AIDS test before I shack up bareback with a new girlfriend or give blood.

To me at least, people should be able to do whatever the fuck they want to their bodies as long as they can make an informed decision about it.
You are vastly overestimating the maturity and intelligence of 13 year olds.

But I don't see the point in raising or lowering the law (it is 18 here, inceidentally.)

If someone is going to fuck, they are going to do it regardless of whether or not it's legal.
If someone is not going to fuck, they are not abstaining because of a law, they are doing so for any reason but.
This, and usually the reason they aren't going to fuck is becuase they don't have the option. Or a Girlfriend at all. Ever. Much like me.

I'm for not having an age of consent, because as the past has taught us - Prohibition doesn't work. Didn't work for alcohol, wont work for drugs, never ever worked for sex.
That's still not a good reason to not even try and protect the immature.

Point is, they are going to do what they are going to do. People cannot be "protected" in a true sense unless you want to become a Totalitarian Regime.
So? Are you saying that because complete protection is impossible, we should abandon all effort?

To me it depends more on the age of their partners. But yeah, 17 is a good age; hopefully by then the kid is less stupid.

Hmm. I'm good with the 14 limit here in Canada
it's 16 now, not 14, Harper moved it up to 16

i think Canada does it right, it's 16 but there is a 2 year buffer, ie the boy can be 16 and the girl can be 14 and that's legal

i think that 16 is a good age because the kids SHOULD be a bit smarter and know what's going on and be a bit more sexually mature by then and got beyond the "omg i got hair down there" point
I didn't know that!

I must go find a willing victim erm... partner.

I seriously didn't know it was that young, I always assumed 18.

I never said that.
That's what I interpreted the gist of your argument to be. So, then, what was it?

What was your argument?
