zombies seem to be the least likely candidate. They wouldn't go through the trouble of enslaving us, they'd munch on our brains. How can you be enslaved by a virus? The definition of a slave is someone with no freedom who is owned by another person. You're not owned by anyone if you're a zombie (although it's much more likely a virus will simply kill you instead of even changing you into a zombie).
