Not everyone can be a rapper... And sadly because everyone thinks they can regardless of talent or background it's been dragged down as a whole. Plus those annoyingly repetitive and boring rhythms really shit me off and make me crank out the heavy metal.

Firstly, that's as deep as a paddling pool XD

But yeah, pretty much all of it I don't like...I'm a musician, so the fact that it's essentially poetry, rather than music, tends to grind with me. I don't hate it, I just don't listen to it.
Blast! I wanted to say that... I obviously agree, not only is that as deep as a diving board but it has VERY little meaning.

Raps only saving graces are: MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Jim Carrey prodying Vanilla Ice, Weird Al Yankovic parodying Vanilla Ice AND MC Hammer... and the only recent one, DMX.

Love Hip Hop but I hate the Gansta thing. It used to be relevant but its now out dated. Unfortunately the artists are too scared to do anything new. Thankfully though, the underground is ripe with amazing Hip Hop.

From "Back when Mark Wahlberg was Marky Mark" to "I'm going to a pretty place now, where the flowers grow, I'll be back in an hour or so"

if you want hip/hop with any real meaning or depth the last thing you wanna do is turn on MTV or the radio.

I feel like im repeating my self in all these rap post recently underground is the way to go.

If you looking for some really deep shit look up Aesop Rock, Immortal Technique, and Illogic

Some thing more down to earth? Atmosphere, Murs, Eyedea, Sage Francis, MF Doom

and i could go on, rap just like most genres, is polluted with mainstream crap, but has gold hidden beneath the surface

I'm of the opinion that the phrase "Rap MUSIC" is like the phrase "Millitary INTELLIGENCE" It's an oxymoron. =p

In all seriousness it isn't all like that but all of the popular garbage is. You gotta dig real deep for the decent stuff. Even then I don't think its worth it.

I liked the silly lyrics of the cencored rap of the early 90s. I don't really concider this modern stuff to be a form of music though, as it's just poetry with no actual singing & continuous repetitive beat you can't possibly dance to.

I like rap on occasion. Granted, it's mostly nerdcore (MC Frontalot and YTCracker just did a show here in Denver that was amazing~), but I like wordplay. Eminem is good for that, as is Sage Francis.

The imagery in this one is especially awesome, considering pretty much everything he says can be read two ways.

And these two are nerdcore at its finest. I like MC Chris and MC Lars too, but they never appeal to me as much as Frontalot and YT.

I'm not a huge rap guy, but I do have a lot of fun with the stuff that I do like. Childish Gambino is great, and so is MC Chris (as lame as I feel for saying so on a gaming web site). Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, and Tupac have all done songs that I have enjoyed.

Yesterday I was being forced to listen to some Rap. One of the lyrics was "...the universe, and all the other galaxies." To me this means one of two things. Either they think that the universe is a galaxy, or that the universe doesn't contain all of the galaxies. Needless to say my palm was on my face in a matter of seconds.

Mostly rubbish, but there are always some great artists in (almost) all genres.

I'm not usually into rap as a rule, but there is some decent stuff out there; MC Lars, mc chris, MC Frontalot. And this guy:
I've been addicted to this song for a while.

From what I've heard, most mainstream rap is pretty rubbish. Early rap, and some modern indie rap is listenable.

Most is absolute crap. But if you can find the good stuff like Jurassic 5, Ivan Ives, Rakim, Murs, and mc chris, then you'll realize it's not all bad. Good rap is really good, while bad rap is really bad.

I hate nearly all rap.

It is so boring, and it all sounds the same.

I'm pretty sure somewhere out there is a good rap artist. So, "mostly rubbish". Chances are always that you get surprised.

The thing about Hip-Hop is you have to search for a good rapper these days.

I'm in love with that rapper http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6VrgPMLsiE
