Interesting perspective... though I'm still not sure what you're saying exactly. That with medical science, there'd be no need for "survival of the fittest", is what I think I'm getting?
Yeah, medical science can bypass the old notion of "fittest" and instead promote a culture of cultivating everyone, from the "weakest" to the "strongest" into being well-rounded members of society.

Besides, everyone has their own way of surviving and being useful or they wouldn't exist.

I'm divided. I think that there are some of us who are well on their way to a Darwin Award, and then there are those who prove me wrong and show that humanity does have a chance. I'll wait and see.

You're right about the medical science bypassing the notion of "fittest", but I think that people survive because people don't like seeing others die, so they call an ambulance or something.

But you are right, and soon we'll be able to remove the genes for things like schizophrenia, and down syndrome. Evolution won't have much purpose once we can nip any development in the bud, so humanity as a species will last, it seems.

Still, I'd somehow feel better with the initiation thing, if only because I'm so sadistic.

pessimism is the first step to demise.

also its a known fact that the answer to all great questions can be found on a gaming forum where a majority of the populace consists of pubescent loners who are angry at the world
You win.

Couldnt agree more, then again you cant blame the kids for going through their teenage agnst. I think we all went through it. Some will grow out of it, the rest will be tending anime conventions into their 40s....cest la vie.
Minus the anime convention part (seriously, WTF man?), also agreed, and this is coming from a teenager.

The human race is a wondrous thing.

We're capable of so much on this planet, why whould we believe otherwise?

Have faith in our race, we will persevere.

Our boat is sinking fast, but being the true bastards we are, we are taking down a bunch of different animal species with us.

"I have no faith in the human race..."-Yahtzee. Well that about sums it up for me.

We have to try. Every day.

Save power, vote for the populace, walk instead of drive, be kind, save power, have patience,

And for gods sake: save power! This world needs to change, fast. And nothing will change if people give up.

Copenhagen was a face-palm of global proportions.

See you all in hell guys
Let's look at at the bright side shall wee?

[small]We won't freeze in hell, and we will be able to cook or food without any stoves![/small]
Exactly! And, we dont have that god awful harp music like heaven does. *Whew*

Edit: Oh, my cynicism says no, the rest of me says maybe. But if Copenhagen is the sum of what we will get out of any international meeting? We're fucked.

Uhh, dude, we are at the 'long run' right now. Shit has already strted hitting the fan, we're all just so protected by contrived media we can't see it unless we stand up and look for ourselves.

So daily, I am assaulted by the stupidity and intolerance of the human race. The latest debacle in Copenhagen as one.

However, I do occasionally see people doing good things.

So where do you think we stand on the report card of the Human race?
Human race's report card.

well atleast its got good school grades.
But its predictability is mind-blowing.
But its inevitable that everything intelligent will eventually destroy itself.

I find this a douchey comment because your making it sound like a big conspiracy theory.

When asking my friend the same question, he wrote a story on how far we are down shit creek without a paddle. If someone wants, I could post the story.

So, no faith.

no, we are not doomed. At least not the entirer race.
when the next big catastrophe happens, the human race will survive
but we might lose 5-6 billion people in the process.
